Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to give the feedback on your services as requested by your company. I moved from my furniture from an old apartment which was at linking road and now shifted to new one at Juhu. I had used your service because I have heard from my friends about your excellent service that you provide.
I had experienced the same and no second thought on it especially your supervisor who helped me a lot in organising the delicate things (Fragile) to be packed in separate box. Further, he informed his team to take utmost care of this box during transit. Everything went well regarding packing and loading into a truck.
The only problem I noticed was with the truck driver. He was driving rashly and was not bothered to take care of any pot holes which could results in damaging the items which were packed for e.g. Fragile box and also Television. I would appreciate that this feedback is passed to your manager so that in future this can be taken care of.
I sincerely thank for your service and will surely recommends others in need.
Kind regards,
Kirti

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your response successfully addresses all parts of the task. You clearly explain what went well on the day of the move, such as the packing and loading process, praise a specific employee who helped organise the delicate items, and mention an aspect of the service you were unhappy with, which was the driver's rash driving. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are extended and supported with appropriate details, such as mentioning the specific route and the fragile items. To move to an even higher level, you could further extend the explanation of the negative aspect by describing the actual impact on your items more explicitly, rather than just suggesting potential damage, ensuring all points receive equal depth of development.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your letter shows a clear overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from the initial introduction to the positive experiences, the complaint, and finally the closing remarks. You use paragraphing sufficiently and appropriately, dedicating distinct paragraphs to each main point requested in the prompt. While the cohesion is generally clear, it sometimes relies on mechanical transitional phrases or simple linking words like 'Further' and 'The only problem'. To achieve a higher band, you would need to use a wider variety of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that referencing and transitions between sentences flow more naturally without feeling repetitive or rigid.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating your message about the removal service. You attempt less common vocabulary such as 'delicate things', 'transit', and 'rashly', which shows an effort to use precise terms. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'moved from my furniture' instead of 'moved my furniture', and 'potholes' written as 'pot holes'. These minor lexical errors do not impede communication, but to reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary with greater precision, better control of collocations, and fewer slips in word form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar and punctuation. You successfully use structures like relative clauses and past tenses to describe the events of your move. However, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, such as missing articles ('give the feedback' instead of 'give feedback'), incorrect prepositions ('give the feedback on' instead of 'for'), and minor tense or clause combination issues like 'could results in damaging'. These errors are noticeable but they rarely impede communication. To improve your grammar score, you should focus on increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences and polishing your control over prepositions and article use.
