Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Ken,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing you as i recently used your services for moving to my new apartment. First of all, I really wanted to thank you for giving me this much of good service. I must say, i did not have to worry about my fragile stuff as your workers really did well. Moreover, I am happy that your company give me 20% discount as a honest customer. Also, when i booked your cpmapny's service for moving help, i instantly get helpers. Unlike other companies i do not have to wait too long for the confirmation.
In addition to it, I am really impressed by one og your employee 'Ramesh'. He did incredible job. He asked me all the details that how i want my stuff to be arranged in my new flat. Also, he take proper care of my expensive decor, he wrapped my glass decors in bubble wrap and then shifted it to other apartment. The service is so fast, i do not have to wait for too long. I really appreciated the work that they have done but there is one thing, One of your worker did moving really fast that he accidently broken my imported lamp. After that he did not even feel sorry for it. I feel really bad about it as it was gifted by my beloved son. Overall, the services are good but from ther next time, please take proper care of the items.
Have a good day.
Thank you
Ravneet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You successfully cover all parts of the prompt by explaining what went well on moving day, praising an employee named Ramesh, and mentioning an aspect of the service you were not happy with, specifically the broken lamp. The tone is appropriate for a semi-formal letter, and you adopt a clear position throughout. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the praise for Ramesh and the complaint about the broken item are quite detailed, while other aspects, such as the discount and booking process mentioned in the first paragraph, remain somewhat brief and under-developed. To reach a higher band, all parts of the task would need equally extended explanation and clear support without rushing through secondary points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement, and the reader can easily follow the sequence of events from booking to the moving day itself. You attempt to use various cohesive devices to connect your thoughts, such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', 'Also', 'In addition to it', and 'Overall'. However, some of these cohesive links feel a bit mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as shifting abruptly from addressing the company formally in the salutation to using the name 'Ken' and informal pronouns like 'you'. Paragraphing is used to separate different ideas, but organizing the flow more smoothly and integrating cohesive devices with greater flexibility would help lift the text to the next level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating your general message about the move. You attempt less common vocabulary items and phrases, such as 'fragile stuff', 'expensive decor', and 'bubble wrap'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation throughout the text. Examples include spelling errors like 'cpmapny's' and 'ther', awkward collocations such as 'giving me this much of good service' and 'do moving really fast', and incorrect verb forms like 'accidently broken' instead of 'accidentally broke'. These errors do not heavily impede communication, but they reflect a limited and developing lexical range that prevents a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You display a mix of simple and complex sentence forms in your writing, successfully using relative clauses and compound sentences. There are some grammar and punctuation errors present, but they rarely impede communication. Examples of errors include missing articles ('shifted it to other apartment'), incorrect prepositions ('details that how i want'), tense inconsistencies ('he take proper care'), and pronoun-capitalization oversights ('i recently used'). While you demonstrate good control over basic structures, your control over more complex grammatical patterns is inconsistent, and errors in articles and verb agreement persist throughout the letter.
