Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to share my feedback regarding the service I recieved during my recent move to new apartment. I would like to appreciate you for your service.

Fortunately, almost all things went well that day. The moving truck was spacious, cleand and well maintained. Although my new apartment was bit far from old house, the procedure of moving was extremely peaceful.

What I liked the most was the nature of employee. He not only helped me move the furniture and possessions, but also assisted me in packing some materials. Moreover, he was really polite and professional. I really appreciate his custmer service skills.

However, while everying went well, I felt that the cost of moving was a bit high. I would appreciate if you could provide other custmers with some discount. I also try to share positive review on your website as well.

I look forward to your prompt response.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you describe the truck and the move, praise an employee’s assistance and manner, and identify the cost as a concern. The positive feedback is relevant, and the employee is clearly singled out. This meets the main requirements, while the specific details about what went well and the pricing concern are less fully developed than the praise. For example, “almost all things went well” is broad, and the letter does not explain what made the move peaceful or why the cost seemed high. To strengthen the response, add one concrete example of how the employee helped and briefly explain the cost concern or what resolution you would welcome. The purpose and tone are clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression: it opens with its purpose, moves through the positive aspects, introduces a concern with “However,” and closes politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish the main points, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Although” support the flow. The sequence is easy to follow, though some connections could be more precise. For instance, “while everying went well” slightly conflicts with the preceding complaint about the cost, and the final offer to post a positive review feels abrupt after the request for discounts. Make the relationship between your praise and criticism clearer, and connect the closing offer more naturally to your overall feedback.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “spacious,” “well maintained,” “professional,” and “customer service skills.” However, several spelling errors and awkward word choices reduce precision and naturalness: “recieved,” “cleand,” “custmer,” and “everying” are noticeable, while “appreciate you for your service” and “procedure of moving” are not natural collocations in this context. “Materials” is also vague when referring to items being packed. Proofread carefully and choose more idiomatic expressions, such as “thank you for the service” and “the move went smoothly.” More precise vocabulary would make the feedback sound more fluent and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including “Although my new apartment was bit far from old house” and “He not only helped me … but also assisted me…”. Most of the message remains understandable, and the sentence structures help you cover the different points. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with articles and sentence patterns: write “to a new apartment,” “was a bit far,” and “from the old house.” In “I would appreciate if you could…,” the more complete pattern is “I would appreciate it if you could…”. The closing sentence, “I also try to share…,” would be clearer with a future form, such as “I will also share…”. Review articles and verb forms to improve accuracy.
