Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to provide you with positive feedback for helping me in shifting my house.
To be honest, on the day of moving, I was extremely nervous and stressed about transferring the house furniture and other belongings, but your company members were so helpful and experienced with managing everything. They timely moved every single stuff from my old to new place.
I am specifically impressed with one of your staff members named as Ali, who made sure the smooth process, and he was so kind and considerate that made the whole process less stressful. He was present the whole time, monitoring and guiding his colleagues to handle the material carefully.
I would be grateful if you could improve your contact services because it was really difficult for me to manage to get in touch with you. If you could update your website and your services with approximate charges, it will be great.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
XYZ

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requested points: it describes the movers’ handling of the belongings, praises Ali’s care and supervision, and identifies difficulty contacting the company as a concern. The positive feedback is supported with relevant details, such as Ali being present throughout and guiding colleagues. The complaint is also clear, with a practical suggestion to publish approximate charges online. To make the response more fully developed, explain briefly how the contact problem affected your arrangements, and connect the request for clearer pricing more directly to that experience. The opening and closing are appropriate for a formal letter, and the overall purpose remains clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information is organised in a clear sequence: an opening purpose, a paragraph about the moving day, a focused paragraph praising Ali, and a final paragraph raising a concern. This progression makes the letter easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “To be honest” and “If you could” help connect ideas. Paragraphing is appropriate and each paragraph has a distinct function. Some connections could be more precise: the final request to update the website and list charges follows the contact complaint, but the relationship between these two points is not fully explained. A brief transition or explanation would make the progression feel more deliberate, while retaining the clear structure already present.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the purpose and includes some useful descriptive choices, such as “nervous and stressed,” “kind and considerate,” and “monitoring and guiding.” These help convey the experience and Ali’s contribution. However, several phrases are imprecise or do not collocate naturally, including “shifting my house,” “every single stuff,” and “made sure the smooth process.” “Contact services” is also vague for the difficulty described. These choices do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for standard expressions used in moving and customer-service contexts, and check whether nouns are countable and whether verbs fit the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The letter uses a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “but,” a relative clause describing Ali, and a conditional request beginning “If you could.” Meaning remains clear, and punctuation and sentence boundaries are generally controlled. Some grammatical errors remain: “who made sure the smooth process” needs a different construction, while “that made the whole process less stressful” lacks a clear grammatical link to the preceding clause. There are also issues with determiners and number in “every single stuff” and with the phrase “from my old to new place.” Review clause construction, countable and uncountable nouns, and parallel phrasing. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the response.
