Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing the letter to provide the feedback on the recent service that I recevied in order to move my furniture and possessions to my new location.

Explaining the best services that I was provided with, was the care that was given to my belongings. Each item was covered with huge care, especially the fregile ones, such as my glass dinner set and mirrors. I am extremely surprised by the layers of covering on my couch to prevent in from any scratches.

I am extremely pleased by the help of Kevin, he was friendly and supportive as well as organized. He placed my belonging very carefully and organized it in a way I never imagined. I recevied some advice from him regarding the handling fregile stuff, which ended up a useful advice for me.

The olny one thing I am little disappoint with is the mixing of winter and summer clothing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover the three requested points: you describe careful wrapping of belongings, praise Kevin’s support, and identify the mixing of seasonal clothing as a problem. These details make the letter relevant and give the reader a clear sense of your experience. However, the complaint is only briefly stated, and the final line, “Your service was”, is unfinished, so the letter does not reach a complete closing or explain the impact of the problem. Some wording also makes the positive feedback less clear, such as “Explaining the best services…” A fuller explanation of the clothing issue and a completed ending would make the response more complete and develop the points more evenly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a generally clear sequence: an opening purpose, positive comments about packing, praise for Kevin, and then a complaint. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these points, and linking phrases such as “especially” and “as well as” support the flow. Some connections are awkward or unclear, however. “Explaining the best services that I was provided with, was the care…” is difficult to follow, while “The only one thing…” introduces the complaint without explaining how it relates to the move. The unfinished final sentence also interrupts the overall progression. Use a direct topic sentence for each point and finish with a brief closing sentence to make the letter feel complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “belongings,” “glass dinner set,” “mirrors,” “scratches,” and “handling,” and you attempt more specific language such as “layers of covering.” This gives the reader useful detail. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “recevied,” “fregile,” and “olny” are misspelled, while “huge care” and “a useful advice” are unnatural combinations. “My new location” is less suitable than a more natural phrase for an apartment move. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your positive feedback and complaint sound clearer and more professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the sentence describing Kevin as “friendly and supportive as well as organized” and the explanation of how the couch was protected. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “I am writing the letter” would normally be “I am writing to provide feedback,” and “prevent in from any scratches” has an incorrect pronoun and construction. In “I am little disappoint with,” the article and adjective form are incorrect. The opening of the second paragraph is also an awkward, incomplete structure. Practise complete sentence patterns and check articles, pronouns, and adjective forms.
