Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear sir and madam
I am writing with regards to your service, which is provided by your company. We get help from your company on 30th september.
First of all one thing is remarkable, all employees were on the location on time in the morning. They clearly tied up the all furniture and packed all the stuff very securely, they completed all the work untill the afternoon. One of the supervisor, his name is thomas, he is really good and hard working man, he worked very smoothly, as a good team leader. He organised all the etectrical items in the van very securely and moved and arranged all furniture into our apartment in the evening. I didnot expect that they finished all the work very quickly.
All the services are really nice, but one thing which really disappointed me that is cost, which is really expensive. Gas sevices are also really high. People cannot afford this.
I would apprecite you if you could provide the reduction in cost. I will recommend your services in future if you reduce the price.
Kind regards
Jass.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three requested points: it describes punctual staff and careful packing, praises Thomas for organising the electrical items and furniture, and identifies the cost as a concern. The purpose is clear, and the request for a price reduction gives the complaint a practical outcome. However, some details are less fully developed than others. The praise for Thomas is specific, while the complaint that the service is “really expensive” and that “People cannot afford this” is broad; explaining which charge seemed unreasonable or why would make the feedback more convincing. The opening also repeats the idea of using the company without giving much context. Overall, the relevant points are present, but their development is uneven.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The information follows a generally sensible order: the letter introduces the service, describes the moving day and employee, then raises a concern and makes a request. Transitions such as “First of all” and “but” help signal the shift from praise to criticism. The main weakness is that the long middle section combines several events and comments in one paragraph, so the reader has to follow multiple details without clear breaks. Some links are also mechanical or unclear, particularly “one thing which really disappointed me that is cost.” Separate the positive feedback from the complaint, and use clearer references and transitions to show how each point relates to the service. The overall arrangement remains understandable, though cohesion is not consistently smooth.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main points, with relevant terms such as “supervisor,” “team leader,” “packed,” and “reduction in cost.” There are also attempts at more descriptive wording, including “remarkable” and “securely.” However, several choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “on the location,” “tied up the all furniture,” and “Gas sevices,” which makes parts of the letter less clear. Spelling errors such as “untill,” “apprecite,” and “didnot” are noticeable, and repeated general words such as “really” and “good” limit precision. Aim for more natural service-related phrases and check spelling carefully; this would make the message clearer and more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The letter includes both simple statements and attempts at longer sentences, for example the sentence describing how Thomas organised items and moved furniture. The meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. Examples include “We get help” for a past event, “One of the supervisor” instead of a plural construction, and “I would apprecite you if” where the sentence pattern is not correctly formed. The sentence beginning “one thing which really disappointed me that is cost” also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Use consistent past tense for the moving day, check articles and agreement, and divide long sentences into clearer units. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the letter.
