Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir,

I am writing to you to share my feedback about the service provided by your company. I am very satisfied and happy with the service I received.

I booked an appointment in your company last week for helping to move out my furniture and belongings to my new apartment. The staffs were very polite, and punctual, as they reached to my house exactly on time. They assisted me in packing my fragile stuffs, and moving heavy furnitures, like, sofas, recliners and wooden beds, which made my moving process extremely easy.

What I like to praise about one of the employee, Ravi, is his honesty. He found a piece of valuable jwellery in the drawer of my wooden bed, which he handed over to me. That was very kind of him and he truly won my heart by his actions. I truly appreciate his kind behaviour.

One thing I was dissatisfied with was some of my glasswares, which were to be handled carefully, got cracked, and broke while transporting. The rest of the service provided was amazing, and made the whole process easy for me. I would like to thank the whole team and appreciate for their efforts and wonderful help.

Kind regards,

Yasha

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a clear, appreciative tone. You explain that the team arrived on time, helped with packing fragile items and moving heavy furniture, and describe Ravi’s honesty with a specific example. You also identify the damaged glassware as the aspect that disappointed you, so the reader understands both the praise and the complaint. These relevant details and supporting examples make the response well developed. To strengthen it further, explain briefly what outcome you would like regarding the broken items—for example, an apology or information about compensation. Also, the opening “Dear Sir,” does not follow the requested “Dear Sir or Madam,” and the closing could be more formal for a company letter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information is arranged in a clear progression: you introduce your feedback, describe the moving-day service, praise Ravi, and then raise the problem with the glassware. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and links such as “What I like to praise” and “One thing I was dissatisfied with” make the purpose of each section easy to follow. The overall organisation is coherent, though some transitions and references are less natural, particularly the shift from the complaint to “The rest of the service provided was amazing.” The repeated expressions of appreciation in the opening and final paragraph also make the ending slightly repetitive. A more concise conclusion, perhaps thanking the team while clearly requesting a response about the damage, would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the situation, including “punctual,” “fragile,” “valuable,” and “dissatisfied,” and the reader can understand your praise and complaint. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “recliners” and “wooden beds.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “appointment in your company,” “fragile stuffs,” and “glasswares” do not fit standard usage. Spelling errors such as “jwellery” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations and check countable and uncountable nouns; for example, use “booked your company,” “fragile items,” and “glassware.” This would make the vocabulary more precise while retaining your clear meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of sentence forms, including a complex sentence explaining Ravi’s actions and a longer sentence describing the moving team’s help. Meaning remains clear throughout, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “The staffs were” has an agreement and noun-form problem, while “they reached to my house” uses an incorrect preposition. In “What I like to praise about one of the employee,” the structure and singular form are not controlled, and “some of my glasswares … got cracked, and broke” has an awkward clause construction. Review subject–verb agreement, articles and singular/plural forms, and practise joining clauses cleanly. More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control without requiring more complicated ideas.
