Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing regarding the services that i received while moving my furniture from my old apartment to my new apartment. Your services were quite up to the mark as compare to other moving companies.
I was so worried for my furniture to move from one place to other as i recently bought my appliances, but I am so glad that i took the right decision to go with your services, as everything was perfect from your side such as, you were on time, you did a good job with uploading and unloading the furniture.
Although, it was raining that evening, but your employees manage everything very well, i would apreciate oliver, who helped me throughout the process of pacakaging and even suggested me for the location of furniture in my new apartment.
However, it was a great experience shifting furniture but one thing that i did not like was employees did not have the appropriate dress for the rainy weather, i would suggest you to provide them splash suits so that there should be no inconvinience while its raining.
Thank you, i would look forward if there is need for your services in future.
Kind Regards
Helen.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requested points: it describes punctuality and careful handling, praises Oliver for helping with packing and furniture placement, and identifies the employees’ clothing in the rain as a concern. The purpose is clear and the tone is generally appropriate for a feedback letter. The positive details, such as the team arriving on time, help support your evaluation, while the suggestion to provide waterproof suits makes the complaint constructive. To make the response more fully developed, explain the practical effect of the clothing issue—for example, whether staff became uncomfortable or the work was delayed—and give a little more detail about how the furniture was handled successfully. This would make the evaluation more specific rather than relying on broad claims such as “everything was perfect.”
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear sequence: you introduce the reason for writing, describe the move, praise an employee, and then raise a concern before closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish the main points, and linking expressions such as “Although” and “However” signal a change in focus. The progression is easy to follow overall. Some links are less effective because they combine contrasting ideas awkwardly: “Although, it was raining … but” uses two contrast markers together, and “However, it was a great experience … but” similarly makes the relationship between ideas less smooth. Use one connector in each case, and make sure each paragraph develops one main point. A more conventional closing would also make the final transition feel complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main details of the move, including “appliances,” “packaging,” “location of furniture,” and “rainy weather.” The suggestion of “splash suits” also shows an attempt to be specific. However, several choices and collocations are noticeably unnatural or imprecise, such as “up to the mark as compare to,” “uploading and unloading the furniture,” and “suggested me for the location.” Spelling errors, including “apreciate,” “pacakaging,” and “inconvinience,” further reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they limit the naturalness and precision of the vocabulary. Practise common collocations for moving services and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple statements and longer sentences with subordinate clauses, for example the sentence beginning “I was so worried … as I recently bought my appliances.” This gives some variety, and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, complex sentences are often not controlled accurately. In “Although, it was raining … but your employees manage,” the contrast structure is faulty and the verb should be in the past; “I would appreciate Oliver, who helped me” also shifts awkwardly between conditional and past forms. There are recurring issues with articles, capitalization, and sentence boundaries, as in lowercase “i” and the comma splice in “Thank you, i would look forward.” Aim for shorter, well-formed sentences and check tense consistency, agreement, and punctuation.
