Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I hope this letter finds you well.I am reaching out to pay my gratitude for your help regarding shifting my furniture. I ws vwry worried about my shifting in new appartment because it was difficult for me to roll back and shift all the household items in new appartment. Then one of my friends told me about your company. The service of your company is fantastic. All the members of your company were knowledge able and attentive. Their recommendations in packing the delicate items were spot-on. I really appreciate their work ethics and experties in moving and packing all my furniture in no time. Although, all of them worked very well, the manager was the person who performed his duty more diligently and efficiently. He was taking special care for the delicate furniture. Infact, all the procedure of shifting was superb but I would like to mention one aspect of your company's service that is not favourable, the over use of plastic wrapping. It is recommended to use biodegradable materials, that is eco friendly. Yours sincerely,Sobia.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three requested points: you describe the team’s attentive service and packing advice, praise the manager’s care with delicate furniture, and identify excessive plastic wrapping as a concern. The letter’s purpose is clear, and the suggestion to use biodegradable materials makes the complaint constructive. Supporting details such as the team completing the move quickly help extend the positive feedback. However, the praise is sometimes broad—for example, “fantastic” and “superb”—rather than supported with specific examples of what the manager did or how the move went well. Developing one or two concrete details would make the response more fully supported and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The ideas follow a generally sensible order: you introduce the move, describe the team’s performance, single out the manager, and then raise a concern. Linking expressions such as “Although” and “Infact” also show an attempt to connect ideas. However, nearly the entire letter is presented as one paragraph, so the positive feedback and the complaint are not clearly separated. Some transitions feel awkward, particularly “Although, all of them worked very well,” and the long final sentence combines praise, criticism, and a recommendation. Use two or three paragraphs and clearer transitions to make the progression easier to follow. Check spacing after full stops and commas, which currently makes some boundaries unclear.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for the situation, including “attentive,” “delicate items,” “diligently,” and “biodegradable materials.” These choices help communicate both appreciation and your environmental concern. There are also several inaccurate or unnatural expressions that limit precision, such as “pay my gratitude,” “shifting my furniture,” and “roll back” for moving household belongings. Spelling and word-form slips—including “experties” and “knowledge able”—also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations used in formal feedback, and proofread compound words and spelling. This will help your vocabulary sound more fluent and appropriate to a business letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a relative clause in “the person who performed his duty.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors recur. For example, “I was very worried about my shifting in new apartment” needs clearer article use and phrasing, while “Although, all of them worked very well” has incorrect punctuation after the conjunction. The final sentence is also overloaded, making its structure difficult to control. Separate ideas into shorter sentences, check articles and prepositions, and use commas and full stops consistently. These changes would improve accuracy without sacrificing sentence variety.
