Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Company,

I hope you find this email well. I am writing to share my valuable remarks about the services that i had taken from your company for the transfer of my furniture and possessions to the new apartment.

The day we moved the house was really tough and hectic. From the beginning to the end, it was full of challenges. I believe it wouldn't have been handled well if i choose any other company. The toughest part was to bring the three-story cupboard from 10th floor. The efforts of the employees who were assigned to do the transfer really impressed me.

In my perspective, the employee who was in black shirt was really humble. He helped us to wrap the fragile items and advised us to cover the items with glasses. We were glad when the furniture was moved to the new apartment without visible scratches. The overall service was reliable and the process was smooth.

In my perspective, the service that you provide was worth the money, but i have a few concerns that i believe would make it smoother. The company should focus on the timings of the workers, as they were asking to leave the place at 6:00 pm because of the shift time. I am of the opinion that if you consider this issue, it will make your service more reliable.

Yours Faithfully,

Sadia Zahid

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you describe the difficult move and the team’s effort, praise the employee in the black shirt for helping with fragile items, and raise a concern about workers needing to leave at 6 p.m. The positive feedback is clear, but some details are less fully developed. For example, the employee’s advice to “cover the items with glasses” is unclear, and the timing complaint does not explain how the early departure affected the move or what change you would like the company to make. The letter also begins “Dear Company” rather than using the specified opening, and “email” is not quite consistent with the requested letter format. Clarifying these points would make the response more complete and purposeful.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it opens with the purpose, describes the move, identifies a helpful employee, and ends with a concern and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps separate these functions, and phrases such as “From the beginning to the end” and “but” guide the reader through the account. However, some linking and referencing feel repetitive or unclear. “In my perspective” appears twice, while “it” in “it was full of challenges” and “this issue” near the end could refer to more specific ideas. The sequence would be easier to follow if the account moved directly from the successful handling of the furniture to the employee’s contribution, then explained the timing problem and its effect.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including “fragile items,” “visible scratches,” “reliable,” and “smooth,” which communicate the service experience clearly. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “three-story cupboard” and “shift time.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “share my valuable remarks,” “transfer of my furniture,” and “cover the items with glasses” do not express the intended meaning naturally. “Humble” describes the employee’s character but is less precise than a word conveying helpfulness or courtesy. More natural collocations and precise descriptions would make the praise and complaint more convincing while preserving your clear overall message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including the conditional “It wouldn’t have been handled well if…” and the clause “if you consider this issue, it will make your service more reliable.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. In “if i choose any other company,” the past-tense context calls for “had chosen”; “the service that you provide was” has a tense mismatch; and “the employee who was in black shirt” needs an article. Capitalisation of “I” is also inconsistent. These errors rarely prevent understanding, but checking tense consistency, articles, and sentence punctuation would improve accuracy. Continue using varied sentence forms, while making sure the grammar matches the time being described.
