Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir,

I hope this letter finds you well.

I have utilised your company's service to move my belongings to my new apartment two weeks ago. I would like to give my valuable feedback about your services. The employees were well-trained and moved everything with great caution. They wrapped the furniture very professionally to minimize the damage. Furthermore, they are well equiped to remove the electronic devices and handled everything carefully. Everything went well as expected.

I would like to mentioned here the service of one of your employee, his name is Kashif Khan. He was very helpful throughout the shifting. He helped my wife to packed the kitchen things and carefully packed all the fragile crockery. Moreover, he tagged all the boxes because of which we didn't have difficulty to find a particular box among all the boxes.

However, there is one thing I would like to mentioned is that we had to wait a lot for them as they have reached after the agreed time; in addition, took longer time to move the furniture. Moreover, they did not have proper trolley to move the heavy furniture. I advise you to work on these issues.

Thank you in advance.

Yours sincerely,

Muhammad Zaviyar.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three requested points: it describes careful handling and wrapping, names Kashif Khan and explains his help, and identifies delays and inadequate equipment as concerns. The praise is particularly well supported by details such as his packing fragile crockery and labelling boxes, while the complaint is clear and relevant. The tone is appropriate for feedback to a company, and the closing is suitable. To make the response more fully developed, explain the impact of the late arrival or prolonged move, and state more specifically what action you would like the company to take. The opening also says “Dear Sir,” rather than using the requested “Dear Sir or Madam,” which is a small task-specific omission.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear progression: general comments on the move, praise for a named employee, then a complaint and recommendation. Paragraphing helps distinguish these purposes, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “However” make the relationships between points easy to follow. Some linking is slightly repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “Moreover,” and the final complaint sentence combines several issues in a way that could be organised more smoothly. The reference in “they have reached after the agreed time” is also not entirely clear in context. Grouping the two service problems into a more deliberate sequence and varying the transitions would make the cohesion more flexible and less noticeable.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the purpose and includes some useful, specific choices, such as “fragile crockery,” “agreed time,” and “electronic devices.” These details help communicate the experience clearly. There are, however, several inaccurate or unnatural word choices and collocations: “utilised your company's service” is overly formal, “shifting” is not the natural term for a house move here, and “proper trolley” is imprecise. Spelling errors in “equiped” and “mentioned” also affect accuracy. Aim for natural service-feedback language and check spelling and collocations; this would build on the range already shown and make the letter sound more fluent and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “because of which we didn't have difficulty” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “I would like to mentioned” should be “I would like to mention,” and “helped my wife to packed” should be “helped my wife pack” or “to pack.” Tense and agreement also need attention: after describing a move two weeks ago, “they are well equipped” shifts to the present, while “they have reached” is awkward for the past event. The complaint sentence beginning “in addition, took longer time” lacks a clear subject. More consistent past-tense narration and complete clauses would improve accuracy.
