Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to provide you feedback on the packers and movers services your company provided when I recently moved to new location.

Overall, I was satisfied with the services. Your team arrived on time and handle my furniture and rest other belongings carefully. They packed the fragile items securely and loaded everything onto the track efficiently. As a result, the moving process was smooth and less stressful than I expected.

I would like to praise one of the employee. Mr. James who was exceptionally helpful throughout the day. He patiently answered all the questions and he also took extra care of my glassware and electronic equipment. Moreover, his friendly attitude and willingness to assist me with arranging furniture made a positive impression.

However, I am disappointed with delivery was delayed for almost two hours. Unfortunately, I was not informed in advance about this delay, which caused considerable delay.

Despite this issue, I appreciate your team's hard work and professionalism. I hope you will consider my feedback to improve your service in the future.

Yours sincerely,

Mohammed Yasir

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a suitable, polite tone. You explain what went well with specific details, including the team arriving on time, carefully packing fragile items, and loading belongings efficiently. The praise for Mr. James is also supported with examples of his patience and care. You clearly identify the delayed delivery and lack of advance notice as problems. These details make the response purposeful and well supported. To make the feedback even more fully developed, clarify the impact of the delay: the phrase “which caused considerable delay” repeats the problem rather than explaining its consequence. A specific effect, such as disrupting your plans or leaving you waiting, would strengthen this point.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5

The information is organised in a clear progression: you introduce the purpose, describe the successful aspects, praise an employee, raise a concern, and close courteously. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish each part of the feedback, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” “However,” and “Despite this issue” guide the progression. The sequence is easy to follow and the letter format is appropriate. Some connections could be more precise: “which caused considerable delay” does not clearly explain the consequence of the late delivery, and “Despite this issue” moves quickly back to praise without elaboration. Make the relationship between the delay and its effect explicit, and use referencing that avoids repeating the same idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a service-feedback letter, including “fragile items,” “securely,” “exceptionally helpful,” “willingness to assist,” and “professionalism.” These choices convey the positive experience clearly, and the tone is generally appropriate. Some less natural word choices and collocations limit precision: “packers and movers services” is awkward in this context, “track” appears to mean “truck,” and “considerable delay” repeats the idea of a delivery being delayed. “Rest other belongings” is also not idiomatic. Aim for natural service-related phrases and avoid repeating the same key word when describing a problem. More precise vocabulary would make the letter sound more fluent and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the sentence beginning “Although” is not present, but you do link ideas with clauses such as “which caused…” and “when I recently moved…”. Most meaning remains clear, and several sentences are controlled, for example, “Moreover, his friendly attitude and willingness to assist me with arranging furniture made a positive impression.” Some grammatical errors remain. In “your team arrived on time and handle,” the verb should be “handled”; “one of the employee” needs a plural noun; and “I am disappointed with delivery was delayed” needs a grammatical construction such as “I am disappointed that the delivery was delayed.” Check articles and verb forms, and ensure clauses are joined with the correct structure.
