Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I have recently used your company for the moving services. I am writing this letter to provide the feedback of the experience I had with your company.
I had booked your moving services on Sunday and suprisingly your crew showed up at the address in 30 mins, which was really commendable. The staff were in proper uniforms and saftey boots, which was very professional. They made sure to carry the fragile furniture with extra care. The team was very well coordinated and professional. They finished a days' work in 5 hours and made sure everything was at its palce before leaving.
The whole team was polite and patient but I would like to especially mention the great work done by John. He was leading the crew and his communication skills were flawless. Moreover, the weight limit was 30 kilograms and my furniture was 35 kilograms, he made sure to handle the situation calmly and transported the furniture at no extra cost.
But there is one thing that I would like to mention which can be improved. The truck driver was very rude and he did not came out of the truck to help the crew members. In addition to that, he was smoking on my personal property and despite warning him couple of times, he kept smoking. I believe this can be fixed with basic staff training. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and will definitely refer your company to my friends and family.
Yours faithfully,
Tarunjeet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 8.0
The letter covers all three requested points clearly: you describe the crew’s prompt arrival, careful handling and efficient work; praise John with specific examples; and explain your dissatisfaction with the driver’s behaviour. The details about John managing the overweight item at no extra cost make the praise particularly convincing, while the smoking and refusal to help give the complaint a clear basis. Your overall recommendation that the company provide staff training is relevant and constructive. The response is well developed for the purpose and maintains an appropriate formal tone. To make the feedback even more complete, you could briefly state what action you would like the company to take about the driver, rather than only suggesting training in general.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information is arranged in a clear progression: the opening explains why you are writing, the next paragraphs cover the move and John’s contribution, and the final paragraph raises the complaint and closes positively. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish the main points, and links such as “Moreover,” “In addition to that,” and “Overall” make relationships between ideas clear. The sequence within the account of moving day is also easy to follow. Some linking is slightly formulaic, particularly the repeated use of “The” to begin sentences and the transition “But there is one thing.” For a more flexible flow, connect related details more naturally and use a less conversational transition, such as “However, one aspect of the service could be improved.”
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a formal service-feedback letter, including “commendable,” “coordinated,” “flawless,” and “transported.” These choices help convey praise and describe the complaint precisely, and the meaning remains clear throughout. There are, however, some spelling and word-choice inaccuracies, including “suprisingly,” “saftey,” and “palce.” A few phrases are also less natural or precise: “the feedback of the experience” and “a days’ work” do not express the intended meaning idiomatically. Aim to check spelling carefully and choose established collocations, such as “feedback on my experience” and “a day’s work.” This would make the vocabulary more accurate and polished while retaining your clear, relevant range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The letter includes a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the relative clause in “John. He was leading the crew” and the conditional-style suggestion that the issue “can be fixed with basic staff training.” Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and punctuation generally supports the paragraph structure. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In “he did not came out,” the verb after “did not” should be in its base form; “despite warning him couple of times” needs an article before “couple”; and “my furniture was 35 kilograms” would be clearer as “weighed 35 kilograms.” Review verb patterns after auxiliaries and article use, and check sentence construction when presenting measurements. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
