Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to provide feedback on the moving service your company "Movers and Packers" recently provided when I relocated to my new apartment.
Overall, I am satisfied with the professional behaviour of your team and the way they handeled most of my furniture. They arrived on time and work efficiently to manage the whole process on given time. I really enjoy conversation with one of your employee David. He seems to very fragile and proactive at supervising things to a team.
However, I was disappointed with the way some of my possessions were packed and handled. I particulary mention about the glass crokery and antique glass covered paintings needs more attention. I found one of my painting get damaged and there are sctrached on upper portion of the crokery sets. I had clearly labelled the boxes as “Fragile”. Unfortunately, no one informed me about the damage until I unpacked my belongings.
I would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter and explain what compensation or reimbursement may be available for the damaged items. I would also recommend providing staff with additional training on packing and transporting fragile possessions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my feedback. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Aashima

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three requested points: it describes the team arriving on time and working efficiently, praises David, and explains the damage to fragile belongings. The complaint is supported with specific details about a painting and crockery, and the request to investigate and explain possible reimbursement gives the letter a clear purpose. The tone is appropriately formal and remains clear throughout. The praise of David is less fully developed than the complaint: “I really enjoy conversation” does not explain what he did that made him particularly helpful, and the description of his role is unclear. Add a concrete example of his assistance to make this part as well supported as the other points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear, sensible progression: the opening establishes why you are writing, the next paragraph describes the positive service, the following paragraph raises the problem, and the closing requests action. Paragraphing helps distinguish praise from complaint, while “Overall,” “However,” and “Unfortunately” guide the reader through the shift in focus. The final recommendation also follows logically from the damage described. Some links within sentences are less smooth, particularly in the description of David and the sentence listing the damaged items, so the reader has to work out how the details relate. Use clearer sentence boundaries and references, and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a formal service complaint, including relevant terms such as “relocated,” “compensation,” “reimbursement,” and “additional training.” These choices help communicate the purpose and desired outcome. There are also attempts at more specific vocabulary, but several inaccurate spellings or word choices reduce precision: “handelled,” “particulary,” “crokery,” and “sctrached” should be corrected, and “fragile” does not clearly describe David in this context. “Glass covered paintings” is also an awkward description. Check spelling carefully and choose collocations that express the intended meaning precisely; for example, describe David as attentive or proactive, and refer to glassware and scratches.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The letter includes both simple statements and more developed structures, such as “I would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter” and the recommendation clause beginning “to prevent similar incidents.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. In “They arrived on time and work efficiently,” the past-tense verbs should be consistent; “I really enjoy conversation” needs an appropriate tense and article or possessive; and “He seems to very fragile” is missing a grammatical element and does not form a clear construction. The sentence about the painting and crockery also has problems with sentence structure and agreement. Review tense consistency, articles, and complete clause construction, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
