Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to provide my feedback on the service provided by Maddock Movers and Packers during my recent moving on Canada Day.
To begin with, I am really impressed by the professional behaviour of each and every staff member. Additonally, the team leader along with others took the charge of assorting fragile and bulky items in their corresponding boxes with a mark on it to identify those items later on. Moreover, I am happy how quickly they moved all the possessions to my new apartment.
I would also like to mention the name of one employee named as John Carter who was very helpful throughout my moving.
He went out of the way to help me in assembling furnitures like bed and kitchen shelf by staying overtime. Additionally, he gave me a hand in unpacking certain boxes which contain basic essentials such as clothes, utensils.
Overall, I am happy with the service provided to me. But I would like to mention one instance where one of the employee broke a flower vase which was priceless for me. However, he was kind enough to apologise for his action.
Thank you for your service and asking for my personal feedback.
Yours sincerely,
Het Jatin Dalal

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
You address all three requested points: you describe the team’s professional conduct and efficient move, praise John Carter’s help with assembling and unpacking, and report that a vase was broken. The letter’s purpose and generally positive stance are clear, and the specific examples make the feedback credible. The complaint is relevant, but it could be developed more fully: explain whether the company offered compensation or what response you would like, rather than ending with the employee’s apology. This would make the final point more complete and the letter’s purpose more fully realised. Overall, the response covers the task well, with some room to extend the less-developed complaint.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter is organised in a clear sequence: opening and purpose, positive comments about the team, praise for an individual, and then the problem with the vase. Paragraphing supports this progression, and linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “Overall” help guide the reader. The ideas within each paragraph are generally easy to follow. However, several transitions are somewhat formulaic, and “Overall” introduces the complaint even though the letter then returns to thanking the company. A more natural transition, such as “Despite these positive aspects,” would clarify the contrast. The reference to “one of the employee” is also unclear in number; clearer referencing would make the final incident easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range for a service-feedback letter, including relevant terms such as “fragile and bulky items,” “assembling,” “unpacking,” and “basic essentials.” These details help communicate the situation precisely, and the tone is appropriately polite. There are, however, several inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit flexibility and collocational control: “my recent moving,” “took the charge of assorting,” “staying overtime,” and “priceless for me.” “Additonally” is also misspelled. Aim for more natural combinations such as “my recent move,” “took charge of sorting,” and “stayed beyond his shift.” These refinements would make the vocabulary more fluent and precise while preserving your clear meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the sentence describing the team leader’s handling of fragile and bulky items and the relative clause in “boxes which contain basic essentials.” Most of the message remains understandable, and you attempt to connect ideas within longer sentences. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, plurals, and verb forms: “one employee” should be “one of the employees,” “furnitures” should be “furniture,” and “boxes which contain” would more naturally be “boxes that contained” to match the past-time account. “I am happy how quickly” also needs a construction such as “I am happy with how quickly.” Check these patterns carefully to improve accuracy across complex sentences.
