Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
The reason why I am writing this letter is to give you feedback on th service which I have booked to move my furniture on May 5th.
I would like to thank you for the quick service. Everything went well according to the plan and we are really satisfied with your service you have provided during our moving operation. My all furniture reached to the new apartment safely.
I would also like to shoutout Kevin the truck driver. He was really helpful throughout journey and because he has chosen a new safer route all of ours fragile items reached home safely.
Regarding one of your mover I would like to raise a complaint about him. As I have asked him to not to pack my old books as I was planning to giveaway to the charity he has packed it with my new books. Which is really wasted my time.
Thanks again I really enjoyed your service.
Kind regards,
Jay Boe

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a clear, appropriate purpose. You explain that the move went well, noting that the furniture arrived safely, praise Kevin for choosing a safer route, and describe the problem with the mover packing books you had asked to donate. These details make the feedback relevant and specific. The complaint is understandable, though its impact is only briefly explained as having “wasted my time”; you could clarify what extra work or delay this caused. The praise could also be developed with one more detail about Kevin’s helpfulness beyond his route choice. Overall, the main ideas are extended and supported, although a little more explanation would make them more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter is organised in a clear sequence: purpose, positive feedback, praise for an employee, complaint, and closing. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these points, and transitions such as “I would also like” and “Regarding” guide the progression. The relationship between the ideas is generally easy to follow. Some linking is less smooth within sentences, particularly in the complaint: “As I have asked him … he has packed it … Which is really wasted my time” leaves the final point detached from the preceding sentence. The opening is also more elaborate than necessary. Connecting the consequence directly to the complaint and using a more concise opening would make cohesion feel more natural and flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a service-feedback letter, including “satisfied,” “fragile items,” “raise a complaint,” and “charity.” These choices communicate the main points clearly, and the tone is mostly suitable. Some word choices and collocations are less natural, however: “shoutout” is informal for this letter, “throughout journey” is not idiomatic, and “reached home safely” is less precise than describing delivery to the apartment. There is also a spelling slip in “th service.” Aim for consistently formal, natural phrasing and check spelling. More precise expressions for the service problem and its consequences would add flexibility without making the letter sound overly formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response includes both simple statements and more complex structures, such as the sentence explaining that Kevin chose a safer route and the clause beginning “As I have asked him…”. Meaning remains clear overall, but some grammatical errors occur. Examples include “My all furniture” (word order and determiner), “throughout journey” (missing article), and “As I have asked him to not to pack…” (tense and infinitive construction). The sentence beginning “Which is really wasted my time” is also an incomplete sentence, and “all of ours fragile items” has an incorrect possessive form. Review articles, possessives, and clause boundaries, then proofread longer sentences to improve accuracy while retaining this range of structures.
