Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The opening establishes the purpose of the letter and gives a general positive evaluation, but the response stops before addressing the task. “The attention to detail” is praised, and Mr Alex is introduced as someone who cared for the writer’s belongings, but the sentence is unfinished and no specific moving-day successes are explained. The employee is not fully praised, and the required criticism of an aspect of the service is absent. The response is also substantially below the required minimum length, leaving the ideas very limited and under-developed. To improve, complete the letter with concrete examples of what went well, explain how Mr Alex helped, and describe one problem tactfully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable letter opening and a basic progression from stating the purpose to giving a positive comment. “Overall” and “Especially” signal how the ideas relate, so the reader can follow the intended direction at first. However, the text ends abruptly in the middle of “Especially how Mr. Alex cared for my”, which prevents the ideas from forming a complete sequence and leaves the employee’s contribution unclear. There is also no paragraph development or closing. Use separate paragraphs for the positive aspects, the employee’s help, and the concern, and connect each point with clear transitions. Completing the sentences and adding a suitable sign-off would make the letter more coherent.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The writer uses some relevant vocabulary for a service-feedback letter, including “feedback”, “moving service”, “attention to detail” and “improve”. These choices make the general purpose clear. However, the range is very limited because the response ends before describing the move, the employee’s actions or the service problem. A few expressions are also not fully natural: “up to mark” would normally be “up to the mark”, while “satisfied by the service” is better expressed as “satisfied with the service”. Develop a wider set of precise terms for the task, such as “handled my belongings carefully”, “arrived on schedule” and “a delay in delivery”, and check common collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The opening sentence is a complete, understandable statement, and the writer attempts a more complex structure in “Overall, I am satisfied by the service and have comments that I think can help you improve further.” This shows some ability to link clauses. However, the final sentence fragment, “Especially how Mr. Alex cared for my”, is incomplete and has no finished main clause; it also leaves the sentence’s meaning unfinished. The response provides too little evidence of varied sentence structures or consistent control. Complete the thought with a full clause—for example, “I especially appreciated how Mr Alex handled my furniture”—and use a mix of complete simple and complex sentences. Review punctuation and sentence boundaries as you extend the letter.
