Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I hope this letter finds you well. The purpose of this letter is to provide you with the requested feedback about your services which I used recently.

I booked XYZ Company last weekend to move my personal items from a house to an appartment in Toronto Downtown. Everyone in the team cordinated really well to handle heavy furniture and other objects. Everything has been transported without any damage to which I am greatful for.

I would also like to highlight one of your employee 'Pawan', who gave instructions to everyone for smooth work. Moreover, he also responded politely to answer any queries which helped me stay calm despite the stress of moving to new place.

Although everything went well in the end, in the morning I had to call your compny several times because the movers were late for an hour. This situation disappointed me; I was worried if all the things will be settled at their place by the end of the day. I would suggest you to have open communication with the customers to avoid any inconvenience.

I hope you find this review useful.

Yours faithfully,

Suman

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three requested points clearly: you describe the team handling heavy furniture carefully, praise Pawan for coordinating the work and answering questions, and explain that the movers arrived an hour late. The complaint is supported with your concern about whether everything would be settled by the end of the day, and the suggestion to improve communication gives the feedback a useful purpose. The tone and formal opening and closing are appropriate. To make the response more fully developed, add a specific detail about what made the moving process efficient or how Pawan’s actions helped the team, and clarify the impact of the delay. This would make the positive and negative points more balanced and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information is arranged in a clear sequence: an introduction, the overall moving experience, praise for an employee, the problem, and a closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these functions, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Although” show how ideas relate. The reader can follow the account without difficulty. Some transitions are a little formulaic, however, and the opening sentence (“The purpose of this letter…”) repeats the idea that you are providing feedback. The shift from the positive account to the late arrival could also be smoother. For stronger progression, use a more direct opening and connect the delay to your overall evaluation, while keeping the paragraphs focused on one main point each.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a formal service-feedback letter, including “coordinated,” “heavy furniture,” “responded politely,” and “inconvenience.” These choices communicate the situation and your evaluation clearly. There are some spelling and word-choice inaccuracies, such as “appartment,” “cordinated,” “greatful,” and “compny,” as well as the less natural phrase “settled at their place.” “Smooth work” is understandable but not idiomatic in this context. Greater accuracy with spelling and more natural collocations would make the letter sound more polished. Try to choose precise expressions for the service outcome, such as describing belongings as delivered safely or placed in the new apartment.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

The letter includes both simple sentences and more developed structures, including the relative clause in “who gave instructions to everyone” and the contrast introduced by “Although.” Most meaning remains clear, and the sentence forms are varied enough for the task. Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “one of your employee” needs a plural noun after “one of,” and “to answer any queries” would be more naturally structured as “and answered any queries.” In “I was worried if all the things will be settled,” the tense sequence and clause structure need correction; “I was worried that everything would be settled…” would be more accurate. Review articles and verb forms, and check punctuation around longer sentences to improve control.
