Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I just want to give you a review about the service got by your company. It was a cloudy day but I was quite lucky that it was not rainy. The good part about moving was everything went really well and we managed to adjust the furniture on time in the apartment which the building manager gave to us.

Moreover, Everybody in your team is very polite and perfect in their job roles. But I cannot resist myself to praise the truck driver who was not only helping me to wrape the breakable furniture but also drove to the new location very safe and sound.

Furthermore,I would like to mention only the one lacking point of the job was the size of the truck. It was really hard to adust all the furniture and possessions in a small size truck.

Overall, thank you for you services,

Yours faithfully,

Gagan,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you describe the move going smoothly, praise the truck driver for helping with fragile items, and identify the truck’s size as a problem. The reader can understand your overall positive view while also seeing what you would like the company to improve. The praise is the most specific part, especially the driver’s help with wrapping furniture; the account of what went well is less developed, and the complaint could explain more clearly how the small truck affected the move. To strengthen the letter further, add one or two concrete details about the team’s efficiency and state what remedy or improvement you would welcome, while keeping the tone consistently appropriate for company feedback.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall sequence: an opening about the service, positive comments, praise for an employee, a concern, and a closing. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these points, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” make the progression easy to follow. However, the connectors are somewhat mechanical, and the opening moves quickly from the weather to the outcome without a clear link. Some ideas would flow more naturally if you grouped the successful aspects together and used transitions that show the relationship between them. The closing is also abrupt after the complaint. A more purposeful final sentence summarising your overall satisfaction and the requested improvement would make the letter feel more complete and cohesive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “breakable furniture,” “new location,” and “lacking point.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for this context, such as “review about the service got by your company,” “perfect in their job roles,” and “small size truck.” Spelling errors in “wrape” and “adust” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they show limited control of collocation and word form. Aim for more natural service-feedback language, such as “the service provided,” “professional,” and “a truck that was too small.” Proofreading for spelling and choosing precise, familiar expressions would improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “not only … but also” and the sentence explaining the truck-size problem. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the service got by your company” has an unclear construction, and “the building manager gave to us” uses an unnecessary preposition. There are also issues with articles and sentence punctuation, as in “in a small size truck” and the run-together punctuation around “rainy. The good part.” The sentence beginning “the good part … was everything went” would be clearer with a grammatical complement. Practise accurate clause construction and check punctuation, articles, and prepositions when editing.
