Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my satisfaction on using your services in helping me move my furniture and belongings to my new apartment.
The above mentioned services were provided to me on January 5th. I requested the company to move my belongings early in the morning. To my surprise the movers arrived 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time, in order to inspect everything. I found that to be very professional. After discussion, the movers started their work exactly at 7:00am and ended in the afternoon before 2:00pm which was the scheduled time. I had to go to work at 5:00pm and I even had time to rest before going to work which was fantastic.
Furthermore, everything was dealt with proper care. I would particularly like to praise Mr. Anderson, the project head. He made sure that everything was packed properly. He was supervising everyone and made sure everything goes smoothly. I had a few extra cartons that needed to be moved which I did not mention beforehand. He was considerate enough to move them for me, since I did not have space left in my car.
The only issue that I faced with your service was that the movers ran out of packing material. No stores were open this early in the morning, so I had to wake my neighbor up and ask if they had any. Luckily they did, but I was not very happy about causing them such inconvenience. Therefore, try to keep extra packing material in future.
Thank you for your services. I would definitely recommend your company to my friends and family.
Regards,
Novaira

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 8.5
The letter addresses all three requested points clearly and in an appropriate formal tone. You explain what went well with specific details, including the early arrival, the work finishing before 2:00pm, and the care taken with your belongings. Your praise of Mr. Anderson is particularly well supported: you describe his supervision and his willingness to move the extra cartons. The packing-material problem is also explained, including its effect on you and a practical suggestion for the company. These details make the feedback purposeful and well developed. To make the response even more complete, you could state more explicitly that the extra cartons were handled safely, or clarify whether the packing shortage affected any items; these are minor opportunities to add precision rather than gaps in task coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
The information is arranged in a clear sequence: you introduce the purpose, describe the moving day, praise an employee, and then raise the problem before closing politely. Paragraphing supports this progression, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “The only issue” help signal shifts between points. The timeline is also easy to follow, from the early arrival to the afternoon finish. Some connections are slightly formulaic, and “The above mentioned services” refers back in a rather formal, impersonal way. The final recommendation and thanks are appropriate, though the closing could connect more directly to the feedback request. Overall, cohesion is effective and the reader can follow the letter without difficulty; more natural referencing and transitions would make the flow still smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 7.0
You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the service and its effects, including “scheduled time,” “supervising,” “considerate,” and “inconvenience.” These choices communicate your evaluation clearly, and the tone is generally suitable for a formal feedback letter. There are occasional awkward collocations or imprecise expressions, such as “satisfaction on using your services” and “everything goes smoothly”; “proper care” is also less natural than “with care.” Repetition of “everything” and “services” limits the flexibility of the vocabulary somewhat. Aim for more idiomatic combinations and vary references to the movers, the team, and your belongings. This would make the language more precise and natural while preserving the clear meaning of your letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.5
The letter includes a useful mix of simple and complex structures, including time clauses and explanations: “I had to go to work at 5:00pm and I even had time to rest” and “since I did not have space left in my car.” Many sentences are accurate and punctuation generally supports readability. A few errors remain. In “He was supervising everyone and made sure everything goes smoothly,” the tense shifts; use “went smoothly” to keep the past-time account consistent. “After discussion” would be more grammatically complete as “After a discussion,” and “try to keep extra packing material in future” shifts abruptly from describing the problem to an imperative. A more controlled version would be “I would suggest keeping extra packing materials available in future.” These are noticeable but do not obscure your message.
