Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to express my experience my positive feedback with Quick Mover company. I am so happy that I made a decision to hired you to move my furniture and all my belongings to my new apartment in Vancouver.

I would like to appreciate your team, the way they made everything so easy for me. As I am a single mother of a three year old son and I had no time to pack everything in the boxes. Mr. Smith helped me to pack everything in the boxes and mark them accordingly. I liked his way of organizing all my kitchen and washroom stuff seprately. They took care of my expensive stuff so well. The way they wrapped my furniture in the plastic sheet to avoid any kind of scratches on them.

However, I would like to point out an aspect that my washroom mirror was broken on the way, was little disappointing. I mentioned this, so you can make some improvement in your handling glass things.

Once more, Thank you so much!!

Yours Sincerely,

Abhishek

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three requested points: you describe the team’s packing and protection of belongings, praise Mr. Smith’s help, and report that the bathroom mirror was broken. The positive feedback is supported with relevant details, including your circumstances as a single parent and the separate organisation of kitchen and bathroom items. The complaint is also clear and appropriately restrained. To make the response more fully developed, explain what outcome you would welcome—for example, an apology or compensation—and clarify whether the mirror was damaged during transport. The opening phrase “express my experience my positive feedback” also makes your purpose less clear than it could be. Overall, the letter fulfils its purpose and maintains a clear, suitable tone.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter follows a sensible progression: purpose, positive aspects and employee praise, then the problem and a closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish the main points, and transitions such as “However” make the shift to the complaint easy to follow. The details about packing and protecting furniture also sit together logically. Some links between ideas are less smooth, particularly “As I am a single mother … and I had no time,” which leaves the relationship between the clauses awkward, and “I mentioned this, so you can make some improvement,” which does not clearly connect the report of damage to the requested feedback. More precise linking and a clearer final paragraph would make the progression feel more controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the service experience, with relevant terms such as “belongings,” “organizing,” “wrapped,” and “scratches.” There are also attempts at more specific language, including “accordingly” and “expensive stuff,” although some choices are imprecise or informal for a feedback letter. “Express my experience my positive feedback” is unclear, while “washroom stuff” and “glass things” are vague; “bathroom items” and “fragile items” would be more precise. Spelling errors such as “seprately” and the inconsistent spelling style in “organizing” also affect accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and a consistently polite, professional register while retaining the clear vocabulary you already use.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, some errors in verb forms, sentence construction, articles and punctuation remain. For example, “I made a decision to hired you” should be “I made a decision to hire you,” and “As I am a single mother … and I had no time” is an incomplete, awkwardly joined construction. The sentence “my washroom mirror was broken on the way, was little disappointing” needs a clearer structure, such as “I was disappointed that my bathroom mirror was broken during the move.” There are also missing articles in “was little disappointing” and “in the plastic sheet.” Practise checking each sentence for a complete clause and consistent verb patterns.
