Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to provide my feedback on the service which I received to move my furniture from my old to new apartment.
I am highly satisfied with the service your staff provided whether it was assistance in shifting or their customer service, they were excellent in all the aspects. Because of their quick service, moving was finished smoothly.
I would like to mention an employee named Joe who was extremely energetic and helpful. Otherwise the shifting could have been a little monotonous but with him everthing went so smoothly. I would like to leave $50 tip from my side to him because of the efforts which he made to make the whole moving process a fun task.
All in all, everything was amazing except one thing. While moving, we had a flat tire and there wasn't any spare tires available on the spot. The staff went to the tire shop to get one and that took a bit too long. Thus, I would suggest you to have some spare tires available in case of such emergencies. Rest everything was great.
Kind Regards,
Kakxy

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a clear, appropriate purpose. You explain that the move went smoothly because of the staff’s quick service, identify Joe and describe his energetic, helpful contribution, and report the delay caused by the flat tire and lack of a spare. The specific $50 tip and practical suggestion to keep spare tires available add useful detail. The positive feedback is somewhat general, however: phrases such as “excellent in all the aspects” and “everything was amazing” do not explain exactly what the staff did well beyond completing the move smoothly. To strengthen the response further, give one concrete example of the team’s assistance or customer service, while retaining the balanced account of the problem.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information is arranged in a clear sequence: purpose, positive assessment, praise for Joe, and the service issue with a recommendation. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and expressions such as “All in all” and “Thus” make the relationship between ideas easy to follow. The letter is coherent throughout, though some linking is a little mechanical or imprecise. For example, “Otherwise” does not clearly express the intended contrast about Joe, and “All in all” introduces a final qualification rather than a full summary. The opening praise also combines several ideas in one long sentence. Use more precise transitions and make the links between each point explicit to create smoother progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a service-feedback letter, including “highly satisfied,” “energetic,” “monotonous,” “emergencies,” and “spare tires.” These choices communicate the main points, and the reader can understand the complaint and recommendation. However, some wording is repetitive or not quite natural for this context: “shifting” is repeated, “leave $50 tip” is awkward, and “fun task” is an unusual description of a house move. There is also a spelling error in “everthing.” Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms—for example, describe the staff’s “careful handling” or “efficient service.” Proofreading spelling and choosing more idiomatic phrases would improve control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The letter includes both simple and more complex sentence forms, such as the sentence beginning “While moving” and the recommendation introduced by “Thus.” Meaning remains clear, and several sentences are accurately formed. Some errors and awkward constructions remain, however. In “I am highly satisfied with the service your staff provided whether it was assistance in shifting or their customer service,” the clauses are not joined cleanly; separate the ideas or use a clearer structure. “I would like to leave $50 tip” needs an article, and “there wasn't any spare tires” has a singular/plural mismatch. The sentence about the flat tire also shifts between singular and plural. Check articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use varied structures.
