Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear sir or Madam,
We recently use your service to get help for move our furniture and possessions to our new apartment. I am writing this letter to give you a feedback about the service of your company.
I was thinking that there will be lots of problem when I decided to move stuff to our apartment, but I am glad to let you know that your serice was excellent on that day. Your employees were very careful to handle fragile stuff like flower pots and water jars. In addition to this, all of the items were nicely packaged in a box, which makes their work easy to unload it when we arrive at our new appartment.
I would like to praise one of your employee called "Richard" who was very helpful on that day. He was the one who took care of all the heavy stuff with proper precautions. Unfortunately, our elevator was not working on that day, so he was the one who did all the hardwork to bring all our stuff to the ground floor with the use of stairs. Therefore, I gave him a tip.
One thing that I would like to mention which needs improvement is that the number of employees you sent to move our furniture to our new apartement. You sent only 2 people which was not enough to finish the task in half day. Therefore, it took them one whole day to move our stuffs to our new apartment. This is the only area that needs to improved, otherwise your serive was excellent and I am very impressed with it.
Kind regards.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 8.0
The letter covers all three requested points clearly: you describe careful handling and packaging, identify Richard’s help with heavy items and the stairs, and explain that two workers made the move take a full day. The praise and complaint are supported with relevant details, so the reader understands both what worked and what could improve. The tone is appropriate for feedback to a company, and the closing is suitable. To make the response even more complete, state more explicitly what outcome you would like—for example, that the company consider sending a larger team for similar moves. This would sharpen the purpose of the final point, although the current complaint is already clear and relevant.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information is arranged in a clear sequence: an opening purpose, a paragraph about the service on moving day, a paragraph praising Richard, and a final paragraph about the staffing problem. This progression makes the letter easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “In addition to this,” “Unfortunately,” and “Therefore” help connect details and show contrast or consequence. Some transitions are slightly repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “Therefore,” and the final paragraph combines the complaint with a general positive conclusion. You could improve flow by varying the links and ending with a concise request or forward-looking comment. Overall, paragraphing and organisation are effective, with only minor opportunities to make cohesion more flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing a house move, including “fragile,” “proper precautions,” “heavy stuff,” and “area that needs improvement.” These choices communicate the main points, and the reader can understand the complaint and praise without difficulty. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling issues reduce precision: “give you a feedback” is not natural, “hardwork” should be written as two words, and “our stuffs” is not the appropriate plural form of “stuff.” There are also repeated general terms such as “stuff” and “excellent.” Aim for more precise expressions such as “belongings,” “items,” and “carefully handled,” and check spelling and natural combinations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response includes both simple and more complex sentence forms, such as the sentence beginning “Unfortunately, our elevator was not working…” and the final sentence contrasting the improvement needed with the otherwise excellent service. Meaning remains clear throughout, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “We recently use” needs a past-tense verb (“used”), while “help for move” requires a different structure (“help moving”). In “which makes their work easy,” the tense should match the past narrative, and “needs to improved” is missing “be.” There are also article and number-pattern problems, as in “one of your employee.” Review verb forms, infinitive patterns, and singular/plural agreement to make the varied sentence structures more accurate.
