Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to you as asked for feed back regarding your services I used for shifting my belongings from old place to new apartment.

I would take a moment to apriciate your team for handleing all my furniture and antiques very well without any scraces and dents onto them.

They work in very professional way and packed all the things very gently and carefully. especially jack was very much good at lesinting as I showed him what the things valued to me and he took extra effort to make ensure all the antique lamps were taken care of as they were gif from my granddad.

the only thing I would like to pinpoint here is that your driver was extremely rough and thanks to the packing team for taking extra care while packing otherwise things would have damaged as he drive fast and take sharp turn I noticed it while I was driving behind your company truck. apart from it all went smooth and safe

thanks for your service and I would recommend my close friend and family

your regards

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points clearly: you describe careful handling and packing, praise Jack for taking extra care with the antique lamps, and identify the driver’s rough driving as a concern. The detail that the lamps were gifts from your grandfather makes your praise specific and supports your feedback. Your overall satisfaction is also clear in the closing recommendation. To strengthen the response further, develop the complaint with a clear request or suggestion, such as asking the company to remind drivers to handle removal vehicles carefully. A more formal closing would also suit a letter to a company. Overall, the task is fully addressed, with relevant ideas supported by personal detail, though the final concern could be extended slightly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter follows a sensible progression from its purpose, to praise, to the problem, and finally to a positive closing. This makes the main message easy to follow, and phrases such as “the only thing I would like to pinpoint” signal the shift to your complaint. However, most of the content is presented in long, loosely connected blocks, and the transition from praising the packing team to criticising the driver could be clearer. Some linking is also awkward, particularly “apart from it all went smooth and safe.” Use separate paragraphs for the positive feedback and the complaint, and connect related ideas with clearer sentence boundaries. This would preserve the logical organisation while making the progression more controlled and less dependent on informal linking.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “belongings,” “antiques,” “extra effort,” and “sharp turn,” and the personal reference to the lamps conveys why careful handling mattered. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “feed back,” “apriciate,” “scraces,” and “lesinting.” Several expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “very much good at” and “make ensure” do not communicate as fluently as “particularly attentive” and “made sure.” “Pinpoint” is understandable but less natural here than “mention” or “raise.” These issues sometimes make the reader pause, although the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Focus on accurate spelling and natural collocations for formal customer feedback.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt to combine ideas in longer sentences, for example when explaining Jack’s care for the lamps and describing the driver’s behaviour. However, these complex sentences are often faulty or difficult to follow. In “I am writing this letter to you as asked for feed back regarding your services I used,” clauses are joined without clear grammatical structure. The sentence beginning “the only thing I would like to pinpoint” also shifts between past and present forms (“was,” “drive,” “take”) and lacks clear punctuation. There are further problems with articles and sentence construction, as in “They work in very professional way.” Use shorter, complete sentences and check verb tense consistency, articles, and punctuation. This will make your meaning clearer while allowing you to retain some complex structures.
