Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to share my feedback about your service and thanking for your help with my move last week. I am so happy with your service. Your guys were so efficient and quick with moving my 2-bedroom apartment.

Your company made my moving so much easier especially with wrapping and packing everything. I had a lot of fragile things and large furnitures. I was much confused about packing and moving it without any damage. But your team made it look like a piece of cake. I am extremely satisfied with the experience I had with packing, loading and unloading.

I really want to appreciate the efforts of Mr. John. He was really amazing. Even though it was raining that day, he asked the team to load everything to the truck without causing any delay. That saved a lot of time.

Everything was smooth except your website. I struggled to book your service through online and I had to call you directly. Something was wrong it with site, it was showing some error and I believe it has not been fixed yet.

Hope you will take necessary actions to clear the issue.

Thankfully,

Neethu Simon

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter clearly addresses all three requested points: it describes the efficient move and careful packing, praises Mr. John’s response to the rain, and identifies difficulty booking through the website. The positive feedback is supported with relevant details, such as the team handling fragile items and completing the loading without delay. The complaint is also clear, and the writer asks the company to take action. This gives the letter a clear purpose and a consistently appropriate tone. To make the response more fully developed, explain the website problem’s impact or specify what improvement you would like, rather than relying mainly on the general statement that it showed an error. The praise of Mr. John could also include one more detail about his personal contribution.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information is organised in a clear sequence: an opening statement, positive comments about the move, praise for an employee, and then the complaint. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these purposes, and links such as “especially,” “Even though,” and “except” make relationships between ideas clear. The letter progresses logically from overall satisfaction to the one area needing improvement. Some connections could be smoother and more precise. For example, “Everything was smooth except your website” shifts from the moving-day service to the booking process without explicitly signalling that this happened before the move. A clearer transition, such as “Although the moving service itself went smoothly, I had difficulty when booking online,” would strengthen the progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the purpose and includes useful task-specific terms such as “fragile,” “loading and unloading,” and “delay.” The writer also conveys satisfaction and concern clearly. However, some choices are informal or imprecise for a formal feedback letter: “your guys,” “large furnitures,” and “made it look like a piece of cake.” There are also awkward collocations, including “share my feedback … and thanking for your help” and “clear the issue.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit the naturalness and precision of the language. Aim for more consistently appropriate phrasing, such as “your team,” “large items of furniture,” and “resolve the problem,” while retaining the specific vocabulary that makes the account clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the concession in “Even though it was raining that day” and the contrast introduced by “But.” Most ideas remain easy to understand, and the writer generally controls past-tense narration. Some grammatical errors remain. In the opening, “I am writing to share my feedback … and thanking” mixes verb forms; use “and thank.” “I was much confused” has an incorrect adverb pattern, and “I had to call you directly” is clearer than the less controlled phrasing around the booking problem. The sentence “Something was wrong it with site” also contains a misplaced word and a missing article. Proofread sentence structure, articles, and verb patterns to improve accuracy while continuing to use varied sentences.
