Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I appreciate for giving me an opportunity to give feedback regarding moving services to new address by one of your employee last saturday. I telephoned your company's receptionist for booking a small truck and a loader on same day of moving. Astonishingly, you arranged both the truck and a person who could help me to move the items. Additionally, I am satisfied with the prices that you have charged from me.

I am extremely obliged by the services of Dyal, one of your employee who made my moving easier last saturday. As moving to new place is a cumbersome procedure in terms of relocating the furniture and every other material object smoothly. I want to praise your employee openly as his gesture was extremely pleasant and with calmness he followed my instructions. Above all, he arrived at my previous address on time which results in moving the items to 27 Overskate place on time.

The one and only thing which I find inappropriate from your side is not allowing your employees to take tips from customers. Out of appreciation, I was giving him $50, however, he refused to take by stating the reason that he is not allowed to take so.

From my opinion, you should amend your policy regarding tips and allow them to accept it when coustomer give them.

Yours faithfully,

Jas

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

You address all three requested points: you describe the booking and the truck/loader arrangement, praise Dyal’s punctuality and helpful manner, and identify the tip policy as a concern. The positive feedback is supported with relevant details, especially that Dyal followed your instructions and helped ensure the move was completed on time. Your complaint and suggestion are also clear. To make the response more fully developed, explain more specifically what went well during the move itself—for example, whether the belongings were handled carefully or the service was efficient. The opening also says the service was provided by “one of your employee,” which could make the scope of the company’s role less clear. Overall, the purpose and tone are appropriate for a feedback letter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear overall progression: you begin with general feedback, move to praise for Dyal, and then raise the concern about tips before closing with a recommendation. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these purposes, and linking expressions such as “Additionally” and “Above all” make relationships between ideas clear. Some connections are less smooth, however. The sentence beginning “As moving to new place…” is a fragment and interrupts the flow between your praise and its explanation. “The one and only thing” is also an unnecessarily emphatic transition for a polite feedback letter. Aim for more natural links and ensure each paragraph develops one complete idea without abrupt shifts.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the task and attempt some less common expressions, including “cumbersome procedure,” “relocating,” and “gesture.” These choices show ambition, but several are inaccurate or unnatural in context: “I appreciate for giving me” and “prices that you have charged from me” do not express the intended meaning idiomatically. “Moving services to new address” and “every other material object” are also awkward or overly formal. There are spelling errors in “last saturday” and “coustomer,” and “one and only thing” sounds too emphatic here. Choose familiar, precise collocations such as “thank you for the opportunity,” “moving service,” and “belongings”; this will make your vocabulary more natural while retaining variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the relative clause “who made my moving easier” and the time clause “when customer give them.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “one of your employee” needs a plural noun, and “As moving to new place is…” is an incomplete dependent clause rather than a full sentence. There are also errors with articles and verb forms in “on same day” and “which results in moving.” Try writing complete sentences and checking agreement and tense consistency: for instance, “which meant we moved the items … on time.” More accurate control of these patterns would make the letter smoother and clearer.
