Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing a letter to give my feedback about service you provided. Last month I bought the new apartment and I booked your service for help to move my furniture on 28 October. Your team came on 11 am and they started to pack the furniture. Besides this, the truck also come around 2 pm in my old apartment gate and after packing they put the all furniture in the truck and at 5 pm we reached in my new apartment and all shiffting completed around 7 pm.

I want to thanks your employee they help me in packing and after shiffting they helped me to arrange my furniture. Moreover, they speak very polite and they are continous work without taking long break. With the help of them I had shifft timely in new apartment.

I want to discuss one thing and from them I was unhappy, that one person from your company asked extra money from me. Apart from this, I loved the services and I want to thanks to your company.

Yours faithfully,

Amit

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you describe the move-day sequence, praise the staff for packing and arranging furniture, and report that an employee asked for extra money. The complaint is clear, and the positive comments give the letter an appropriate purpose. The praise would be more fully developed if you identified the particularly helpful employee, as the task asks, and explained what that person specifically did. Some details in the timeline are also difficult to interpret, such as when the truck arrived and when the move was completed. To strengthen the response, make the key events clearer and add a specific example of the employee’s helpfulness.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening and account of the move, a paragraph of praise, and a final paragraph raising the problem. This makes the purpose easy to follow, and connectors such as “Moreover” and “Apart from this” help signal relationships between ideas. However, the first paragraph packs several events and times into one long sequence, so the order is not always clear. “Besides this” does not clearly connect the truck’s arrival to the preceding point, and “one thing” is vague before the complaint is explained. Use shorter sentences for the timeline and more precise transitions to make the progression smoother and less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the main events and opinions, including “furniture,” “pack,” “arrange,” and “extra money.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling problems make the letter sound unnatural. For example, “give my feedback about service” would be more idiomatic as “provide feedback on the service,” while “I want to thanks” uses the wrong form. “Shiffting” is repeatedly misspelled, and “they speak very polite” does not use the correct form of the adjective. Aim to learn common phrases for moving services and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your meaning more precise and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates its main message, but grammatical control is uneven. Most sentences rely on simple clauses, while attempts to combine several events produce errors, as in “Your team came on 11 am and they started to pack” and the long sentence describing the truck, packing, arrival, and completion. There are also errors in verb forms and agreement: “the truck also come” and “they speak” should use past-tense forms, and “I want to thanks” needs a different verb pattern. Articles and prepositions are also sometimes inaccurate, as in “in my old apartment gate.” Use a wider mix of controlled sentence structures, and check tense consistency and basic sentence patterns when describing past events.
