Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you regarding the feedback form that your company has send me to provide feedback on the service they provided while shifting my furniture to the new apartment.

First of all the helpers are very discipline with the timings that I mentioned on the phone. Everybody takes care of my belongings very smoothly especially the mirror that was very costly.

One person, especially from your company by the name Roger is very helpful. He supervise every furniture and belongings very carefully so that it will not break. Even he has not taken any break while moving the stuff and this helps me to move my possessions to new apartment very quickly.

The main problem comes with the truck that your company has sent it over because the dimensions I send was for big truck but you send me small truck and this cause problem related to the furniture. It takes more time to fit my furniture in the truck and this cause some damage to it.

I look forward for your response.

Yours Faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a clear, appropriate purpose. You explain that the movers arrived at the agreed time and handled your belongings carefully, praise Roger for supervising the items, and identify the undersized truck as the main problem, including its effect on the move and the furniture. These details make the feedback relevant and sufficiently supported. The complaint is especially clear, while the praise could be developed a little further by describing a specific action Roger took or how his help improved your experience. Overall, the task is handled clearly; adding a little more precise detail to the positive points would make the response more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear, logical order: you introduce the purpose, describe what went well, focus on Roger, and then explain the problem with the truck. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and transitions such as “First of all” and “The main problem” guide the reader through the letter. The sequence is easy to follow, although some linking is a little mechanical, and the final sentence, “I look forward for your response,” does not connect naturally to the feedback or specify what response you expect. A more conventional closing that briefly restates your hope that the company will address the issue would create a smoother ending. Overall, progression is clear, with room for more natural cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main events and concerns, including “belongings,” “supervise,” “dimensions,” and “damage.” However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “very discipline with the timings,” “while shifting my furniture,” and “fit my furniture in the truck” do not sound idiomatic in this context. Some repetition of “furniture,” “belongings,” and “problem” also narrows the range. Aim to learn common phrases for moving services, such as “arrived on time,” “handled my possessions with care,” and “load the furniture onto the truck.” More accurate collocations and a few varied alternatives would make the letter sound more natural and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The letter includes both simple statements and attempts at longer sentences, for example the sentence explaining how the truck’s size affected the move. However, verb forms and agreement are often inaccurate, as in “your company has send,” “He supervise,” “this cause,” and “It takes more time.” Tense shifts also make the account less controlled: past events should generally be described consistently in the past. There are errors in sentence construction too, such as “the truck that your company has sent it over,” where the extra “it” is unnecessary. These patterns show that more complex sentences are being attempted, but they are not yet controlled consistently. Practise past-tense forms and build longer sentences around one clear grammatical structure.
