Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my gratitude towards your relocation services in my new apartment. Following this, your team helped me to do things in an easy manner.
Before one week, I have planned to move on a new apartment in 216, Bluewhale road,Toronto. At that time I was planning to arrange a team for the relocation services of household items such as furnitures and electronics items. On the moving day, I was bit confused about transporting items items without harm. But everything went well by your support.
There was an employee in your team named Karan, who helped me through giving strength and support in every task. Moreover, he helped me to place my favourite cupboard to the favorite destination in my new home.
Unfortunately,I was not happy about one thing. It's because an employee in your team told me to give an additional tip for their service. Basically, I didn't like his behaviour and the way of talking.
Thank you for your service and time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards
Sree

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you describe the move going smoothly, identify Karan as especially helpful, and explain your dissatisfaction with an employee’s request for an extra tip. The letter’s purpose is clear and the tone is generally appropriate. The praise is supported with a specific example—Karan helped place your cupboard—but the positive account of the moving day is less developed; “everything went well” does not explain what the team did particularly effectively. The complaint is also clear, though a brief indication of how the company could address it would make the feedback more complete. You already show some detail and a clear purpose; more balanced development of each point would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible overall order: an opening, background about the move, praise for an employee, a complaint, and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish the main points, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Unfortunately” guide the reader through the shift from praise to criticism. Some connections are less natural or precise, however. “Following this” does not clearly link the opening ideas, and “Before one week” makes the timeline harder to follow. The background paragraph also includes details that do not contribute much to the feedback, while the positive account could be connected more directly to the service’s successful outcome. Use clearer time references and more purposeful transitions to make progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including relevant terms such as “relocation services,” “transporting,” and “additional tip.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “household items” and “favourite cupboard.” However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or repetitive: “give strength and support” does not clearly describe Karan’s practical help, and “favorite destination” is an awkward way to refer to a place in the home. “Items” is repeated, and “furnitures” is an incorrect plural form. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the letter, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for common, accurate collocations and avoid repeating the same general nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “Unfortunately, I was not happy about one thing” and the explanation beginning “It’s because…”. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Before one week, I have planned” has an inaccurate time expression and tense; “move on a new apartment” uses the wrong preposition; and “I was bit confused” is missing an article. There are also punctuation and spacing problems, such as missing spaces after commas and full stops, which make parts of the letter less polished. Work on past-tense forms for completed events, articles, and prepositions, while checking punctuation between sentences.
