Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I hope you are doing great.

First of all thank you for your great service. I am writing this letter to provide you feedback that you asked for. I am really obsesed with your service for removal my furniture from old home and possession to my new house. I want to mention that One of your employees named Rohit helped me with a great suggesstion for removing my large king sized bed from small door that was a difficult task. Because it could lead to breakage of sides of door. Furthermore, The service was provided in low budget as well as in timely manner.

On the other hand, One thing i would definitely mention that i needed two trucks owing to large size of furniture. Howeveer, Your company just sent one truck.

All in all, I feel content with your help on that day. I would recommend everyone to get service from your company.

Yours truly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you describe the timely, affordable service, praise Rohit for finding a way to move the bed through a small doorway, and explain that only one truck arrived when you needed two. The purpose of giving feedback is clear, and the recommendation at the end provides a suitable closing sentiment. However, the complaint is brief and its consequences are not explained, while the positive points receive more detail. The opening also says “Dear Sir,” rather than using the requested “Dear Sir or Madam,” and the sign-off “Yours truly” would be stronger with your name. Developing the impact of the missing truck and balancing the details would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a recognisable progression: an opening, positive feedback, a contrasting complaint, and a concluding recommendation. Connectors such as “First of all,” “Furthermore,” and “On the other hand” help signal the relationship between ideas, and the reader can follow the main message. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the positive and negative points are not separated into clearly organised paragraphs. The sentence beginning “I want to mention” combines the employee’s help with a lengthy explanation, while the truck issue is presented abruptly. Use distinct paragraphs for the praise and the concern, and connect the missing truck to its practical effect to create smoother progression and clearer cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “timely manner,” “large king sized bed,” and “breakage,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “obsesed with your service,” “for removal my furniture,” and “great suggesstion.” Spelling errors in “obsesed,” “suggesstion,” and “Howeveer” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall message, but they make the letter less natural and precise. Choose standard service-feedback phrases, such as “satisfied with your service” and “a practical solution,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the explanation that the bed was difficult to move because of the doorway and the contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “for removing my large king sized bed from small door” is missing an article and has an awkward grammatical pattern; “I needed two trucks owing to large size of furniture” also needs articles. Capitalisation is inconsistent after commas and sentence breaks, as in “that One” and “Furthermore, The.” Aim to form complete, controlled sentences and check articles, sentence boundaries, and capital letters. More accurate complex sentences would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
