Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope everything is going well from you are side. I am writing to provide feedback regarding moving service that I had from Moving Help Ltd. last sunday.
The service was amazing. Despite having ample furniture, the company managed to move all of them within a few hours. Employees reached on time and started moving immediately. They moved all the furniture without damaging them which is the best thing about the service. Additionally they also helped in moving other household things as well which were not included in the contract.
I would like to particularly praise Jhon who was very hardworking and helpful throughout the moving. He was a driver. Our moving time period for new apartment was between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM and he drove us well enough to reach to the apartment before the scheduled time. As a result, we managed to transfer all the furniture within the schedule.
One thing I am dissatisfied with is, the company charged $25 more for extra kilometers eventhough already discussed about the moving destination.
Overall, the service was impressive, except the extra change. Thank you!
Best regards,
Akash Jadav

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
You address all three requested points and maintain a suitable, polite letter format. The positive account is supported with relevant details: the movers arrived on time, completed the work within a few hours, avoided damage, and helped with items outside the contract. You also identify Jhon and explain his contribution, then clearly state your concern about the additional $25 charge. These details make the response specific and purposeful. The praise for Jhon is somewhat less fully developed than the general description of the service, and the reason for the extra charge could be explained more precisely—for example, what had been agreed about the destination or mileage. Developing those points would make the response more consistently detailed and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
The letter has a clear progression: an opening explaining its purpose, a paragraph on what went well, a separate paragraph praising an employee, and a final complaint and closing. This organisation makes the main points easy to locate. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “As a result,” and “Overall” help connect ideas, and the contrast introduced by “Despite” is appropriate. Some connections are less smooth: the account of Jhon’s driving and the transfer of furniture is not entirely clear, and “Overall” repeats the positive evaluation rather than neatly summarising the feedback. A more direct transition into the complaint, followed by a concise closing summary, would make the cohesion more natural and less formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the purpose, including “ample furniture,” “without damaging,” “particularly praise,” and “dissatisfied,” so the reader can understand both your appreciation and your complaint. There are also some inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision: “moving service” would be more naturally expressed as “removal service,” “moving time period” is awkward, and “extra change” does not clearly mean an additional charge. Spelling and word-form slips such as “sunday,” “Jhon,” and “eventhough” also affect the overall accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully, especially in the final version; this will make your otherwise clear message sound more fluent and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the concessive opening “Despite having ample furniture…” and the result clause “As a result, we managed…”. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “I hope everything is going well from you are side” has problems with the possessive form and sentence construction; “move all of them” and “without damaging them” use unclear pronoun reference; and “reach to the apartment” has an unnecessary preposition. There are also issues with articles and punctuation, as in “regarding moving service” and “One thing I am dissatisfied with is, …”. Review possessives, articles, pronoun reference, and clause punctuation, while retaining your attempts at varied sentence structures.
