Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I'm writing this letter to give my review about the service provided by your company to my furniture and possessions to my new apartment. I'm glad the packers came on time as scheduled and properly packed all the items because in my previous experience, other company's workers came so late that my shifting got delayed.
I was extremely delighted by service of a particular employee named David, he was working actively and ensured all the process worked out smoothly. He made sure big furnitures were moved out safely without any scratches.
Although entire service was good but something that bothered me was fragile items. They were not packed with enough protection and as a result some of my possessions were broken. I would suggest you to pack fragile item with care and provide required protection while moving.
Therefore, in my opinion the employers did a great work but managing the fragile items could be improved.
Yours thankfully,
Sania Siddiqua.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a clear, appropriate purpose. You explain that the packers arrived on time and packed the items properly, praise David for working actively and protecting large furniture, and identify inadequate protection for fragile possessions as the problem. The specific consequence—some items were broken—makes the complaint clear, and your suggestion for improvement is relevant. These details support the main points well. To make the response more fully developed, explain briefly what was damaged or how the issue affected you, and make the praise of David more specific by describing one action he took. Overall, the message is clear and all parts of the task are covered.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information follows a sensible order: you introduce the purpose, describe what went well, praise an employee, and then raise a concern before concluding. Paragraph breaks help distinguish the positive feedback from the complaint, and linking expressions such as “Although” and “as a result” show relationships between ideas. The progression is clear, though some connections feel mechanical or are not fully controlled. For example, “Although entire service was good but” combines two contrasting structures, while “Therefore” does not add much to the final summary. Use one contrast marker at a time and choose transitions that express the precise relationship between ideas. Clearer paragraphing and more natural links would make the cohesion less noticeable.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a service-feedback letter, including “scheduled,” “ensured,” “smoothly,” “fragile,” and “protection.” These choices communicate the main points, and the reader can understand both the praise and the complaint. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “give my review about,” “service provided … to my furniture,” and “big furnitures.” “Employers” is also not the right word for the company’s workers in the conclusion. Aim for more precise, natural phrases such as “provide feedback on the service,” “move my belongings,” and “large pieces of furniture.” This would improve fluency and accuracy while retaining the clear, task-appropriate vocabulary you already use.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The letter includes both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because,” a relative clause in “an employee named David, he was working actively,” and a contrast clause beginning “Although.” Most meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, articles, agreement, and punctuation. For instance, “Although entire service was good but” needs an article and should not use both contrast markers; “a particular employee named David, he was…” joins two independent clauses with a comma; and “some of my possessions were broken” is accurate, but “fragile item” should be plural when referring generally to items. Practise combining clauses with correct punctuation and checking articles and singular/plural forms.
