Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Early Removers,

I am writing a feedback for the service you provided me on July 22 regarding moving my furniture and other household things to my new apartment.

Firstly, the company has a great reputation and all the employees were friendly and professional. The work was done in timely manner without any damge to my products. Moreover, none of the neighourhood was disturbed due to moving and dragging the heavy boxes and furniture.

I am very happy with one of the worker named John. He was very helpful and calm. Many things were left to pack and I was feeling tense. However, John stepped in and helped me to pack all the boxes and he make sure that I was feeling good every time.

All the service was great. However, the workers went back without cleaning the area as it was mentioned in the contract. At the end I had to clean all stains from all over the places which made be disappointed.

Yours faithfully,

Ap

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you describe the move as timely and careful, praise John’s help with packing, and explain that the workers did not clean as promised. The specific details about the undisturbed neighbours and your anxiety before John helped make the positive feedback relevant. This meets the task well, but the points are not equally developed: the complaint is brief, and “all the service was great” is a broad summary rather than a clear account of the overall experience. To strengthen the letter further, explain the practical effect of the uncleaned area or state what response you would like from the company. The opening and closing are appropriate, though the salutation differs from the one specified in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear overall progression: it introduces the purpose, describes what went well, focuses on John, and then raises the problem. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these points, and transitions such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “However” make the sequence easy to follow. The contrast between the praise and complaint is also clear. Some linking is a little mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “However,” and “All the service was great” does not connect smoothly to the complaint that follows. A more precise transition or a brief summary of the overall service would make the progression feel more natural. Check spacing after full stops, as in “professional. The work,” to keep the presentation polished.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a service-feedback letter, including “friendly and professional,” “timely manner,” “stepped in,” and “disappointed.” These choices communicate the main points clearly, and the tone is generally suitable. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural word choices and collocations: “writing a feedback,” “household things,” “one of the worker,” and “clean all stains from all over the places” are not idiomatic. Spelling slips such as “damge” and “neighourhood” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common phrases for this context, such as “provide feedback,” “household belongings,” and “clean up the area,” and proofread spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The letter includes a mix of simple sentences and more complex forms, including the contrast introduced by “However” and the clause “which made be disappointed.” Most of the meaning remains clear, and you use past-tense narration to describe the move. Some grammatical errors remain, though: “the work was done in timely manner” needs an article, “one of the worker” needs a plural noun, and “he make sure” should use a past-tense verb to match the account. The final clause also has an incorrect pronoun form. Review articles, plural forms, and consistent past-tense verbs, then check punctuation and spacing. More accurate control of these patterns would make the letter smoother without requiring more complicated sentences.
