Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir,

The intent of this correspondence is to bring this matter to your attention and seek an appropriate resolution.

Regarding that day I would like to highlight a few important observations. Recently, with the help of your company we moved a furniture to our new home. I really appreciate the time management of your team. The team was really welcoming and hardworking on that day. We targeted to finish our moving till 4 PM but surprisingly, they finished it so early around 2 PM.

I would love to mentioned one of your employee name 'Raj', he did some special favour during moving. He handled fragile items so well, before moving he unpack all the glass items and wrap it into a paper for better protection. On top of that, he put some shockproof stickers on each side corner of the furniture. Although he was not a manager, he was guiding a team and take all responsibility by himself.

Regrettably, I am not so satisfied with manager's behaviour. He sounds little bit rude and arrogant towards the staffs. Additionally, he does not know customer services at all. He took an extra cost of 25$ for that stickers.

I extend appereciation for your consideration and I anticipate your valued response at earliest possible convenience.

Yours sincerely,

Maitri Bavarva

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: the team worked efficiently, Raj handled fragile belongings carefully, and you were unhappy with the manager’s conduct and an additional charge. The specific finish times and the example of protective stickers make the positive feedback concrete. The complaint is also clear, but the manager’s behaviour is described briefly and the reason for the $25 charge could be explained more precisely—for example, whether it was unexpected or not disclosed beforehand. The opening and closing are appropriately formal, although the first sentence about seeking a resolution does not clearly introduce the purpose of giving feedback. Overall, the task is covered, with some details developed more fully than others; clearer explanation of the complaint would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it first describes the move, then praises Raj, and finally raises a complaint. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these distinct points, and transitions such as “On top of that” and “Regrettably” signal addition and contrast. However, some linking and referencing are less natural or precise. “Regarding that day” is a rather mechanical transition, while “he did some special favour” does not clearly identify the favour until the following sentences. The opening also feels disconnected from the specific feedback that follows. To strengthen progression, begin directly with the purpose of the letter and use clearer links between the efficient service, Raj’s contribution, and the concern about the manager and extra charge.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for a formal feedback letter, including “time management,” “fragile items,” “protection,” and “customer services.” Some attempts at more formal or less common wording are not natural in context: “bring this matter to your attention,” “special favour,” and “valued response at earliest possible convenience” sound overly elaborate or imprecise for this purpose. There are also word-choice and spelling slips, such as “a furniture,” “staffs,” and “appereciation,” which reduce accuracy but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than formal-sounding phrases, and check spelling and word forms carefully. For example, “removal team” and “additional charge” would express your points more idiomatically.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast introduced by “Although” and the longer sentence describing Raj’s work. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. Examples include “I would love to mentioned” instead of “I would like to mention,” “he unpack” instead of “he unpacked,” and “he was guiding a team and take” instead of “he guided the team and took.” Articles and number also need attention in “we moved a furniture,” while “he sounds little bit rude” needs an article and a consistent past tense (“he sounded a little rude”). Review verb forms and tense consistency, especially when recounting past events. More accurate control of these patterns would make the varied sentence structures clearer and more polished.
