Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to provide my feedback on the service provided by your company to move my belongings to new apartment.
I would definitely appreciate how everything was well managed on moving day. I was worried about important items to be safely moved but your employees handled those items exceptionally well.
In particular, John one of your employees was putting extra efforts in safely arranging the items. I would really praise about his efforts in doing smooth moving.
However, the truck driver was lacking experience while parking in tight spots under the building. He almost hit my car which was parked across the street.
I hope you will continue providing great service and improve the

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you describe careful handling of important belongings, praise John’s efforts, and report the driver’s difficulty parking and near-collision. These details are relevant, but some are not developed enough to give the company a full account. For example, explain what made the move well managed, and specify what John did that was especially helpful. The complaint would also be more useful if you described the impact or suggested how the company could prevent a similar incident. The letter is 29 words below the required minimum, so it needs more detail. Finally, the closing sentence is unfinished, leaving your feedback incomplete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, positive feedback, a specific employee commendation, and then a concern. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and transitions such as “In particular” and “However” make the progression easy to follow. This already gives the response a coherent structure. To make the organisation more flexible and complete, develop each point with a supporting detail and finish with a complete closing paragraph. The final line, “I hope you will continue providing great service and improve the”, breaks the progression because the thought is unfinished. Some links between ideas are also quite basic; for instance, explain how John’s actions contributed to the smooth move rather than simply repeating praise.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a service-feedback letter, including “handled those items exceptionally well,” “safely arranging,” and “tight spots.” These phrases communicate the main events clearly, and the tone is generally appropriate. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural choices and collocations: “appreciate how everything was well managed” does not express your intended praise naturally, while “praise about his efforts” is not idiomatic. “Smooth moving” is also unclear, and “lacking experience” makes a strong judgement without explaining the observed problem. Choose more precise phrases such as “the move went smoothly,” “commend him for his efforts,” and “had difficulty manoeuvring the truck.” This would make your feedback sound more natural and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the contrast introduced by “However” and the relative clause in “which was parked across the street.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors are present. In the opening, write “to my new apartment” rather than “to new apartment”; in “John one of your employees,” commas are needed around the identifying phrase. “I would really praise about his efforts” has an incorrect verb pattern, and the final sentence is incomplete. Aim to check articles, punctuation around inserted information, and verb complements. Completing the final sentence and varying sentence structures while maintaining accurate forms would improve control without changing the clear meaning of your main points.
