Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for excessive clothing consumption and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of social media and the rapid turnover of fashion trends. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of 'fashion industry designs life is too small' is a bit vague and could have been expanded with more specific examples of 'fast fashion' business models. The solutions provided are practical, though the suggestion to buy 'plain clothes' is a bit simplistic. Overall, the response covers all requirements but lacks the depth of analysis expected at higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for reasons and solutions, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One of the major reason', 'In addition', 'However', and 'Firstly'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate (e.g., 'In conclusion, undoubtedly social media and fruquentely change clothing trend are work like fuel'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band for coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors ('Nowdays', 'eassy', 'industery', 'fruquentely', 'cabinate') and word choice issues ('funkey', 'mix mach'). While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'global trend' and 'fashion industry', the range is limited. The errors in spelling and word formation are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not fully impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and using more sophisticated collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('everyone have', 'there is few step'), incorrect verb forms ('to made themselves', 'to reverse this trend'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices and run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures limits the score. A greater focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and tense consistency is required.
