Student answer (Band 6.5)
Due to modern technology, people can buy anything from anywhere. There are many websites and apps available for shopping. Therefore, In some parts of the world, people buy far too many clothes. Apart from this there are many reasons for it. I will discuss those in the following paragraphs and will give suggestions about how people can control the shopping of many clothes.
First of all, nowadays people focus on physical appearance more than the character and due to this people do shopping a lot so they can look good and smart for the particular occasion. Secondly, due to modernisation people love to follow the ongoing trend of fashion, this is encouraging them to buy more clothes. Moreover, technology plays a vital role in the growth of shopping as there are various platforms available for the shopping of clothes. People can easily search for the appropriate clothes item they want and they can get it within a few days of ordering. Online websites such as amazon, flip carts and shien are available for the customer which are providing good service and the clothes around the world. Furthermore, advertisement also plays a significant role in attracting customers. For instance, famous celebrities act for the cloth item and the audience wants to follow his or her trend so they buy that particular product to follow the actor's lifestyle. In addition, media platforms provide various advertisements such as you tube, Netflix and other platforms have ads in between the shows and songs which attracts the audience to buy those items.
People should be aware of the limit of buying clothing because it can be harmful financially. If people are constantly buying clothes then they will have a lot of clothes which they don't require. People can control this habit by purchasing good material clothes rather than buying many clothes. For example, a person can buy hoodies from gap and puma with good fabric and material rather than buying from the cheap websites. Moreover, they should plan a budget for buying clothes in advance, this can save them from purchasing unnecessary items. Furthermore, instead of buying all colour jeans and different tops, people should buy regular colour jeans like black and blue that match with all colour tops. This way they can save money on buying jeans.
In conclusion, Although clothes can be very attractive and fashionable, these are still the basic needs for the people. Therefore, people should spend carefully on the clothes they purchase.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for excessive clothing consumption and strategies to reduce it. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of social media, celebrity culture, and the convenience of online shopping. The suggestions for reduction, including budgeting and choosing quality over quantity, are practical and well-supported. However, the development is somewhat superficial; for instance, the explanation of 'modernisation' could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is clear and maintains a consistent position throughout, fulfilling the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the reasons from the solutions. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the vague use of 'this' in 'due to this people do shopping'. Despite these minor flaws, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'vital role' and 'significant role'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'shopping of many clothes' instead of 'excessive clothing consumption' and 'cloth item' instead of 'garment'. Spelling errors like 'flip carts' (Flipkart) and 'shien' (Shein) also detract from the overall lexical precision. Expanding the range of topic-specific collocations would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is consistently clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with article usage ('the shopping of many clothes'), pluralization ('all colour jeans'), and punctuation (missing commas after introductory phrases). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'people can buy anything from anywhere'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. A greater focus on sentence variety and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
