Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for excessive clothing consumption and suggesting ways to reduce it. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat superficial. The arguments regarding 'attractive fashion' and 'cultural clothes' are not fully extended, and the suggestions for reduction are brief. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the depth of the response and results in a penalty. To improve, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples for each point raised.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is some attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'One primary reason', 'Second main reason', and 'In a nutshell'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. The logical progression of ideas is present but could be strengthened by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed theme. The referencing is sometimes unclear, which affects the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'do shopping stylist clothes' and 'citizen do not seen them often'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is a reliance on basic terms. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to consumerism and fashion, while ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'those clothes gives them', 'they feels like'), article usage, and word order. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
