In this sophisticated era, buying a large quantity of new clothes has become increasingly common in many parts of the world. This situation is mainly caused due to display their status in the society and the rapidly change fashion trends. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for excessive clothing consumption and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the reasons regarding social status and fashion trends are clear, the solutions section is underdeveloped. The suggestion to use 'sustainable clothes' is mentioned in the introduction but not expanded upon in the body paragraphs. Additionally, the conclusion is abrupt and fails to summarize the proposed solutions, which limits the overall task response. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully supported with detailed explanations and that the conclusion provides a comprehensive summary of the entire argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical transitions and some repetitive phrasing. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the internal structure of the final paragraph is weak, as it only restates the causes and ignores the solutions requested by the prompt. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring a balanced structure across all paragraphs would enhance the coherence of the writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'unnecessary expenditure', 'textile waste', and 'sustainable clothes'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'people wants to maintain' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'multiple variety of clothes'. The range is sufficient to communicate, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people wants', 'fashion trends changing'), article usage, and pluralization (e.g., 'environment pollution' instead of 'environmental pollution'). While the writer attempts complex sentences, these often contain errors. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic grammatical rules and increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences. Proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
