Student answer (Band 6.0)
People in some countries around the world purchase clothes more than they actually need. The main reasons of this behaviour comes from social media and increased varities. People can be convinced to buy less by governments with less advertising and by installing awareness campaigns.
One of the main reason customers buy clothes more than they required is because of the frequent advertisements in social media. After a stressful day people would like to open applications such as Instagram and TikTok, suddenly an commercial pops up with a label saying last minute sales even though the prices are regular. People immediately open the link and end up buying them. Another significant reason is cothes come in different varities and fashons. For example, we buy different clothes for different occasions such as suits for wedding, regular wear, office clothes and many more.
Governments can take some necessary steps to make people buy less clothes, at first, they can reduce the number of advertisements on the internet. By doing this, people who buy through advertisements can be reduced. Secondly, awareness camps can teach individuals about the impacts of unused clothes on the environment. These camps can people aware about the fabric of the clothes and their behaviour towards bio-diversity.
In conclusion, people buy far many clothes than necessary because of the frequent commercials on their mobiles apps especially social media apps and due to the substantial manufacturing of styles. This can be reduced by governments with useful acts such as limiting the number of ads on consumers mobiles and campaigns related to clothes impact on nature

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, identifying both the reasons for excessive clothing purchases (social media and varied fashion trends) and solutions (government advertising restrictions and educational awareness campaigns). A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and lacks depth; for instance, the explanation of how awareness campaigns teach individuals about biodiversity is brief and could be further elaborated with more specific examples. Despite this under-development, all prompt requirements are met, which aligns well with the Band 6 descriptor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised with a recognizable four-paragraph structure comprising an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear overall progression of ideas, moving from causes in the first body paragraph to solutions in the second. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'One of the main reasons', 'Another significant reason', and 'In conclusion'. However, some referencing is slightly faulty or mechanical, as seen in the phrase 'These camps can people aware', where a verb is missing, and the transitions feel a bit formulaic. Paragraphing is used appropriately, supporting an overall coherent arrangement.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'substantive manufacturing', 'biodiversity', and 'awareness camps'. However, there are several spelling and word-choice errors that detract from precision, including 'varities' instead of 'varieties', 'cothes' instead of 'clothes', 'fashons' instead of 'fashions', and an incorrect prepositional collocation in 'reasons of this behaviour' instead of 'reasons for'. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilising conditional and relative clauses such as 'By doing this, people who buy through advertisements can be reduced.' There are several noticeable grammatical errors and missing words throughout the text, such as 'The main reasons of this behaviour comes' (subject-verb agreement error), 'an commercial' (article error), and 'These camps can people aware' (missing verb). While these errors occur with some frequency, punctuation is generally adequate, and the errors only rarely impede overall communication.
