Student answer (Band 5.5)

In a few distinct parts of the nation, Individuals purchase far more clothes than they need. This is influenced by Fashion trends and Social media. In my opinion, awareness may be helpful to decrease the sales.

On the one hand , there are several reasons why people expenditure a large amont of money on clothes. Firstly , the ifluence of famous celebrities. To explain it more, most of the individuals tried to follow them escepically, youngsters. That s why,to match the pace with them and looks different everyday. Moreover ,some of the brands are selling the clothes on cheaper prices that can be easily replaceable by consumers. For example, Shein and temu are the apps that are very cheaper as compared to other websites and companies. It increses the interest of buyers to buy more and trendy clothes at cheaper prices. In addition to it, Some of the stores often offered a discounts for cutomers that allures them a lot to buy more.Sometimes thay donot need that clothes but due to the offers they provide ,people just buy a lot of clothes on sales.

On the other hand, there are some impulsive measure should be taken to aware people about purchasing new clothes even they have enough clothes. Firstly, raising awareness about theenvironment and the sources that companies use to produce large amount of clothes. Producing and disposable clothes require more water which is harmful our ecosystem. So, we should have to raise awareness by doing campains about how landfills depleting the environment as well as schools should have to aware students more about it. Secondly, govenment should have to provide incentives to those comanies, who are environment friendly and uses less sources. To expain in detail, they should have impose a law on companies that produces low quality of clothes. For example, officias should have to be make people more aware about to use high - quality clothes insted of low quality stuff which stays longer periods of time. It will not only reduce the impact on sources but also saves larger amounts of money.

In conclusion, there are some reasons behind the phenomenon ,why individuals purhase loadsof clothes in order to look stylish and modern but some measures should be taken such as raising awareness about environmental damage and money

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons why people buy excessive clothes and how they can be persuaded to reduce this habit. The writer provides relevant ideas, such as the influence of social media celebrities and cheap fast-fashion apps like Shein and Temu, alongside solutions like environmental campaigns and government incentives. However, the development of these ideas is sometimes limited and uneven. For example, sentences such as 'most of the individuals tried to follow them escepically, youngsters. That s why,to match the pace with them and looks different everyday' lack full elaboration and contain fragments. While a clear position is presented throughout the essay, the supporting examples lack depth and precision, placing this response firmly in the Band 6 category for fully addressing the prompt while leaving some parts under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is structured with four paragraphs, including a clear introduction and conclusion, demonstrating a coherent overall arrangement. Logical connectors such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', 'In addition to it', and 'In conclusion' are utilized to guide the reader through the text, though some cohesive devices feel mechanical or are awkwardly placed. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the causes from the solutions. However, referencing and transitions are occasionally faulty, such as 'To explain it more, most of the individuals tried to follow them escepically, youngsters. That s why,to match the pace with them...', where punctuation and connective flow hinder smooth progression. Overall, the organizational structure meets the requirements for a Band 6, showing logical sequencing despite mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'phenomenon', 'incentives', 'eco-system', and 'landfills'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'expenditure' instead of 'spend', 'ifluence', 'escepically', 'cheaper prices' instead of 'lower prices', 'temu', 'campains', and 'govenment'. While these inaccuracies do not completely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score. The use of phrases like 'large amont of money' and 'low quality stuff' reflects a limited degree of precision and control over collocation, making Band 5.5 a fair reflection of the student's lexical capabilities.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as 'So, we should have to raise awareness by doing campains about how landfills depleting the environment'. However, there is a high frequency of grammatical errors and poor punctuation, particularly missing auxiliary verbs, incorrect modal usage ('we should have to raise awareness', 'officias should have to be make'), and fragments ('That s why,to match the pace with them and looks different everyday.'). Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and periods, are pervasive. Because grammatical and punctuation errors occur frequently and occasionally strain the reader's comprehension, the writing aligns closely with the Band 5 descriptors.
