Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the reasons why people buy too many clothes and suggesting practical measures to reduce consumption. The position is generally clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas are a bit repetitive or under-developed. For instance, the discussion on fashion and hobbies could be extended with more specific examples. Despite minor developmental limitations, the main prompt requirements are satisfied, earning a Band 6.0 according to the descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing reasons and solutions respectively, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Starting with the reasons', 'Moreover', and 'Moving onto the practical measure' are used to structure the text, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, but occasional minor awkwardness in phrasing affects the overall flow. Overall organisation is coherent, matching the Band 6 descriptor well.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'stressfree', 'hectic schedule', and 'impulse purchases'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'habbit' instead of 'habit', 'refeshing' instead of 'refreshing', 'schdule' instead of 'schedule', and 'conculde' instead of 'conclude'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the score from reaching a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'It is argued that huge amount of outfits are purchased by people...' and '...individuals like to wear new trendy clothes than old-fashioned and they prefer to shop more.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'overcome on this trend', 'shopping give individuals to time for some relax', and missing articles ('is that fashion'). These errors occasionally cause some difficulty, aligning the grammar with a Band 5.5.
