Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing reasons why people buy too many clothes, such as social status and events like weddings, and offering solutions like buying versatile or reusable clothing. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and lack deep development. Phrases like 'bundles of cloths for some reasons' are very vague. The position is generally clear, but the support and examples tend to be repetitive and over-generalized rather than fully extended. This places the response in Band 5.0 for this criterion, as it addresses the task and presents relevant ideas, but the development remains basic and lacks specific, well-rounded examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, attempting an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression is frequently interrupted by poor referencing, punctuation errors, and awkward formatting. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'However' are used, but their mechanical application does not always establish a logical relationship between sentences. For example, sentences run together without adequate punctuation, creating a somewhat disjointed reading experience. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is faulty. These characteristics align with a Band 5.0 descriptor, where there is some organization and paragraphing, but overall progression and cohesion are inadequate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice errors that impede fluent reading. Examples include 'cloths' instead of 'clothes', 'weding' instead of 'wedding', 'attrative' instead of 'attractive', 'sitution' instead of 'situation', 'reuseable', 'reducding', and 'affortable'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'upgrade our style of living', but the high frequency of basic lexical errors and incorrect word forms restricts the score to a Band 4.5 or 5.0. Because the vocabulary is minimally adequate for conveying basic intent despite errors, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the text. The writer relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences often result in run-on sentences, such as 'In this modern era we have unlimited variety of cloths which is help us to upgrade our style of living and so far society also judge person by their cloths...' Subject-verb agreement errors ('which is help', 'there is some techniques', 'their are some important think') and missing articles ('person', 'weding') are pervasive. The range of structures is limited, and frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader, placing this response firmly in Band 4.5, rounded to Band 5.0 based on positive achievement of basic communication.
