Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has been universally acknowledged that the problem of buying unnecessary clothing is escalating at an alarming rate in the current scenario. This problem has been a depressing magnitude. Although a plethora of reasons exist, some sensible solutions are also available to curb this grave concern.
To commence, the primary problem of overshopping is that numerous easily accessible shopping software applications exist on the internet. Consequently, people are always busy searching for new clothing in their leisure time in order to look impressive every time and grasp the attention of their famous one. To substantiate this, 60% of individuals are inspired by models on social applications such as Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and buy lots of clothes without thinking for a second. To tackle this issue, the government should apply shopping limits to everyone's shopping apps, which give time to think about products, whether their wants or not.
Furthermore, another contributing factor is fast-paced lifestyles. It can lead to people suffering from stress, overthinking, and depression. In order to distract themselves, they go shopping, which they consider a stress-buster for them. For example, most girls go to shopping malls after getting their salary and spend almost half on clothes to make themselves happy and comfortable. The way forward could be to spend their leisure time with their loved ones or plan one or two trips per month instead of spending on wardrobe. In this way, people can feel warm and full of energy.
To conclude, unquestionably, the issue of purchasing many clothes has become a burning question of the day. Therefore, it is not an easy task to solve this. The government and people should come forward to mitigate this complex issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying both the reasons why people buy excessive clothes (such as accessible shopping apps and fast-paced lifestyles leading to stress shopping) and offering practical solutions (like government limits or finding alternative leisure activities). The ideas are generally relevant and extended with examples, such as 60% of individuals being inspired by models on Instagram and girls going to shopping malls after receiving their salary. However, some arguments lack deeper nuance, and the generalization about 'most girls' is slightly stereotypical. The position is clear throughout, and the task requirements are adequately met overall, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The text is organized with a clear overall structure, including a brief introduction, two body paragraphs addressing reasons and solutions, and a short conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'To commence', 'Consequently', 'To substantiate this', and 'Furthermore', though some feel a bit mechanical or formulaic. Referencing is mostly clear, though occasional transitions feel slightly abrupt. Overall progression is logical, though the linkage between sentences could be smoother at times. This performance is consistent with the Band 6 descriptors for logical arrangement and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and collocations such as 'alarming rate', 'plethora of reasons', 'fast-paced lifestyles', and 'stress-buster'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'famous one' instead of 'loved ones', 'shopping software applications' instead of 'e-commerce platforms' or 'shopping apps', and 'spend on wardrobe'. Spelling is generally accurate, but some lexical choices are unnatural or slightly awkward. These limitations place the response comfortably within the Band 6 level for lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses with 'although', 'which', and 'in order to'. There are, however, several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings present throughout the text. Examples include 'This problem has been a depressing magnitude' (awkward structure), 'give time to think' (missing subject/object), and 'whether their wants or not' (fragmented structure). Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while errors occur, they rarely impede overall communication. This mix of structures and error frequency is characteristic of Band 6 performance.
