Clothes are one of the essential items for people. Nowadays society uses to purchase large quantities of clothes. There are a few reasons behind this such as people are heavily influenced by social media and also to get the feeling of satisfaction by wearing different types of clothes.

To begin with, one of the main reasons is that people are influenced by the various types of social media. Fashion companies make different types of clothes and hire the content creators who have millions of followers or subscribers to promote their products. As expected, it gives a massive amount of reach which makes people to buy the promoted item. On the other hand, wearing different type of clothes will give a satisfaction. Imagine when you wear a new dress, you have a fresh feeling which makes you satisfied. This satisfaction leads to more purchases.

Furthermore, People can adopt to a minimalistic life to reduce unnecessary purchases. Have specific month of the year to take clothes. Build a habit to shop only once for each season. This will help to reduce unnecessary purchases drastically. The next fact is wash according to the instructions given by the company. It gives you an understanding how to protect the fabric without harming them. As an example, some materials should not be washed with warm water, and some are with cold water. This will prevent the fabric from damaging. This will save your money because the fabric will last longer than you expected.

In conclusion, people can reduce purchasing clothes by adopting to a minimalistic life and also washing clothes according to the given guidelines.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for buying excessive clothes (social media influence and psychological satisfaction) and offering solutions (adopting a minimalist lifestyle, shopping seasonally, and washing clothes correctly to increase durability). The ideas are generally relevant and clear throughout the essay. However, the development of some points tends to be slightly limited or over-generalized, particularly regarding the solution about washing instructions, which leans more toward garment care than directly reducing the volume of clothing purchased initially. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task well, earning a solid Band 6.5 descriptor alignment, specifically rounding to a Band 6.0 as some ideas are slightly under-developed or tangential in the second solution paragraph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure. There is a discernible introduction, body paragraphs addressing causes and solutions respectively, and a conclusion. Transitional markers such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, referencing and cohesive devices are occasionally mechanical or slightly faulty, such as 'The next fact is wash according to the instructions', which disrupts the logical flow between sentences. Paragraphing is used adequately, but transitions between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother and more sophisticated to reach higher band levels.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'essential items', 'content creators', 'minimalistic life', and 'durability'. There are some successful attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are accompanied by lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as 'society uses to purchase' instead of 'society tends to purchase' or 'take clothes' instead of 'buy clothes'. Spelling is generally accurate, but some collocation and word formation errors appear, which place the writing firmly in the Band 6 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including relative clauses and conditional structures, such as 'Imagine when you wear a new dress, you have a fresh feeling which makes you satisfied.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, including 'people can adopt to a minimalistic life' (incorrect preposition), 'Have specific month of the year to take clothes' (incomplete sentence structure), and 'without harming them' where the pronoun reference is slightly ambiguous. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the essay from achieving a higher band score due to a lack of consistent accuracy in complex structures.
