Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, rapidly changing fashion trends have been a topic of considerable debate. Individuals in few countries shop a lot of clothes than required. There are few compelling reasons for the same including prioritizing exterior looks over their actual personality and some of them getting inspired by their social media influencers. However, people can be convinced to decrease the amount of clothes that they buy by making them aware of the environmental repercurssions.
There are some pivotal reasons for the widespread of this trend. Foremost among them, people have started to take their external appearance more seriously than it should be, solely to impress other people. Moreover, bulk-buying of clothing apparels largely gained from the culture of being a "trend-catcher", that have taken over the younger generation. For example, hollywood has promoted western culture throughout the globe, instilling the importance of purchasing fashionable clothes and keeping up with the latest trends.
Nevertheless, individuals can be persuaded to purchase fewer clothes by imparting the consequences of their actions. Organizing social campaigns either through social media or weekend camps, to spread awareness about the immense amount of pollution generated through manufacturing of these clothes. Furthermore, adding more wearable items to the closet does no good to the poor people who lacks even basic clothing. For instance, Valuue Village runs a charity counter, where people can bring their unused clothes, and after recycling it is send to be distributed among the under-privileged sections of the society in Africa.
In conclusion, there are some countries where people purchase unnecessarily more clothes. It is due to the importance given towards looking attractive and following the fashion trends. They

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, examining both the reasons behind excessive clothing purchases and potential solutions to reduce this habit. The student presents clear ideas, noting how exterior looks and social media influencers drive consumption, while suggesting environmental awareness and charity donation campaigns as viable solutions. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and the conclusion is abruptly cut off mid-sentence. While the main prompt is covered, the support lacks full extension in places, placing this response firmly at Band 6.0 according to the task achievement descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing separating the introduction, reasons, solutions, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Foremost among them', 'Moreover', and 'Nevertheless', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'some of them getting inspired' where the antecedent is ambiguous. Furthermore, the lack of a finished concluding paragraph detracts slightly from the overall progression. These features align well with the Band 6 descriptor, where organisation is apparent but some cohesion is faulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'prioritizing exterior looks', 'pivotal reasons', and 'environmental repercurssions' (note the spelling error). There are several lexical and spelling inaccuracies throughout the text, including 'repercurssions', 'clothing apparels' (apparel is uncountable), and 'Valuue Village'. However, these errors do not seriously impede communication, and the writer successfully conveys their message, fitting the Band 6 lexical profile.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar. Examples of complex structures include 'Individuals in few countries shop a lot of clothes than required' and clauses introduced by 'where people can bring'. However, there are notable grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'shop a lot of clothes than required' (instead of *buy many more clothes*), 'widespread of this trend', and a subject-verb agreement issue in 'the poor people who lacks'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical errors persist throughout, though they rarely impede communication, earning a Band 6.
