Student answer (Band 6.0)

Purchasing number of clothing items increases significantly among people of the particular location in the world. There are multiple reasons for this trend, but many approaches do exist to encourage individuals to minimise the products they buy. In this essay, my write up will show some causes as well as solution to this ongoing situation.

The first and foremost reason in this current scenario would be social media. Social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook are the primary cause, from which people get to know about trending outfits. People generally purchase attire by getting influenced by their favourite film star or cricketers. As a result, they end up buying multiple clothes. Moreover, due to atmosphere of few countries, citizens must obliged to purchase various types of outfits to tackle from extreme weather conditions. When taking into consideration of India, dwellers are facing three weather throughout the year. Consequenly, variety of clothing is essential for them to survive.

Solution can't be easy in such sitations but few steps can be taken to minimise this approach. Government should imposed high amount of taxes on the products that are made from materials such as pure leather, which comes directly from animals. This will consider as the most impactful way by which the sale will reduce remarkably for clothing company. Another approach can be taken by spreading awareness through campaign. In the recent survey of Sydney shows that number of school took participate in annual function of the city and by spreading awareness students did not get desire to purchase number of clothes, infact they are likely to purchase less outfits.

To conclude, indeed there are influencers reason such as social media platforms and some unforeseen reason to purchase ample amount of clothes, but through awareness and mother of necessity one can reduce the purchasing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring reasons for excessive clothing purchases such as social media and climate needs, and offering solutions like taxation and awareness campaigns. The position is generally clear, and ideas are extended, although some arguments lack depth. For instance, the point regarding weather conditions is slightly underdeveloped and confused. However, the writer manages to cover all requirements of the task satisfactorily, presenting relevant ideas throughout. Examples such as referencing India and Sydney are integrated, though slightly generalized. Overall, the performance aligns well with the descriptors for Band 6, as all parts of the task are addressed, even though some areas require fuller explanation and more precise real-world examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate reasons and solutions. However, cohesion at the sentence level is occasionally mechanical or faulty, as seen in awkward transitions like 'Solution can't be easy in such sitations' and repetitive referencing patterns. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Consequenly', and 'To conclude' are employed, but control over them is sometimes inconsistent. Paragraph 2 addresses reasons, and Paragraph 3 outlines solutions, maintaining a logical progression overall, but referencing between sentences can be disjointed, placing this text firmly in the Band 6 descriptor range.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting less common items such as 'minimise', 'impactfully', and 'unforeseen'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'Purchasing number of clothing items increases', 'atmosphere of few countries', and 'Government should imposed'. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'sitations', 'Consequenly', and 'infact'. While the range is sufficient to communicate the main points, the frequent lexical slips and awkward collocations prevent the response from achieving a higher band, making Band 6 an appropriate and fair evaluation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, grammatical errors are frequent throughout the response. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Government should imposed'), missing articles ('In the recent survey of Sydney shows that number of school took participate'), and awkward phrasing ('citizens must obliged to purchase'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but structural inaccuracies occasionally impede readability, particularly in complex constructions. Because simple sentences are usually more accurate while attempts at complex sentences often contain errors, the response fits the Band 5 descriptors.
