Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has become increasingly common for people to purchase a lot of clothes in a considerable part of the world. This essay will examine its main causes and propose practical solutions to help them reduce buying too many clothes.
To begin with, one of the primary causes of this trend is advertisement. In other words, texttile industries often advertise their products using social media applications and public posters. As a consequence, younger generation gets targeted easily and buys these products blindly. Another significant contributor is accessibility. This is primarily because, with the use of internet, individuals can purchase clothes online within a fraction of a second. Similarly, several malls such as premium outlets allow them to purchase luxurious branded clothes under one roof, making shopping very convenient and time-efficient for buyers. Therefore, people end up buying far too many clothes.
Nevertheless, this problem can be addressed through several effictive measures. Governments should implement stricter restrictions for manufacturing industries from promoting their products, trageting youth. Moreover, a self awareness is essential before shopping. To be more specific, buyers should realize that although premium outlets allow them to purchase clothes from different brands efficiently, it also brings a significant financial burden since there is no denying that these luxurious brands are extremely expensive. Thus, an appropriate planning before going shopping can help reduce the number of clothes they buy significantly.
In coclusion, although people's habit of purchasing far too many clothes arises from varous interconnected factors, it can effectively tackled through coordinated efforts from the officials and individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by identifying both the reasons for excessive clothing purchases (such as aggressive advertising and online accessibility) and practical solutions (such as government restrictions and pre-shopping awareness). The position is clear throughout the essay, and the ideas are extended and supported with relevant explanations, such as mentioning premium outlets and the influence of social media. While some of the supporting points could be further elaborated with deeper personal examples, the main parts of the prompt are covered sufficiently to meet the expectations of Band 6.5 to 7.0. Overall, the task is answered appropriately with a clear logical progression of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a clear overall arrangement with an introduction, well-defined body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Another significant contributor', 'Nevertheless', and 'To be more specific' are used to guide the reader through the text, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the causes from the solutions effectively. However, minor referencing issues and slight spelling errors in transitional phrases (such as 'effictive' and 'coclusion') prevent the text from reaching a higher band. Progression is clear, but cohesion could be managed with greater flexibility for a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'accessibility', 'financial burden', and 'interconnected factors'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'texttile' instead of 'textile', 'effictive' instead of 'effective', 'trageting' instead of 'targeting', and 'coclusion' instead of 'conclusion'. While these errors do not impede communication and the intended meaning is always clear, the presence of these inaccuracies keeps the score at a solid Band 6.0. Using a more precise and varied lexicon without spelling slips would elevate the lexical profile.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures such as 'To be more specific, buyers should realize that although premium outlets allow them to purchase clothes...' There are some grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as missing articles ('a self awareness' should be 'self-awareness', 'appropriate planning' without an article is better, and 'it can effectively tackled' is missing a 'be'). Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, and the majority of sentences are understandable. Control of punctuation and basic sentence structures is generally good, placing the grammar comfortably within the Band 6.0 range.
