Student answer (Band 5.0)
In some continents of the world, public spend money buy clothes. I believe it is because of growing rapidly growth.
On the one hand, In modern days many newly wed couples going for honeymoon in various countries, states such as Goa, Maldives, or many abroad countries. As a result people wants to look good and like a citizen of the city. Therefore they bought so many clothes. Another reason is as young girls who have great sense of fashion. They want to try new dresses for parties, weddings or even any School competition. In addition, now there is a new trend where education boards such as Schools, Colleges, Universities organise and celebrate every and each occasion and encourage students to participate in various activities. It leads pupils to spend on outfits.
There are many ways through people can reduce the quantity of clothes they buy such as tell them to value their money. As many people believe if we repeat some outfits again and agian it is wrong and society is not accepting you as a citizen. But this is a myth. Government and big companies work together and spread awareness among people. Because it is very dangerous for our health. Since we wear outfit only one time after that we put in dustbin. It leads to garbage and where it damages the soil fertility. It has a great impact on our Environment. As now people do not like to do recycling. But it is important not just for climate, soil but also for future generation.
In conclusion, I believe it is good that we buy different outfits for occasions, parties and so on. But I think we dont have to for granted for this. We should be grateful for what we have. Just dont waste money on these things. Build you future with this money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons why people buy many clothes, such as social trends, honeymoon travel, and fashion awareness, and suggesting solutions like raising awareness and changing consumer mindsets. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and lacks depth. For instance, the discussion on environmental impacts is brief and slightly disjointed. The writer's position is generally clear throughout the text, although some supporting points are under-developed and rely on sweeping generalisations. While all requirements of the task are touched upon, the lack of thorough explanation and elaboration places this performance at Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays some overall organisation with distinct paragraphs for introduction, reasons, solutions, and conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence structures, such as starting the third paragraph with 'There are many ways through people can reduce...'. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or awkward, and referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'it' and 'this' whose antecedents are ambiguous. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak. These issues with flow and logical connection align closely with the Band 5 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses a limited and repetitive range of vocabulary that is only minimally adequate for the task. Phrases like 'growing rapidly growth' and 'bought so many clothes' demonstrate basic word choice and noticeable errors in word formation and collocation. There are also spelling errors, such as 'agian', and awkward phrasings like 'dont have to for granted for this'. While the meaning can generally be extracted, the restricted vocabulary and frequent inaccuracies cause difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5 criteria.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The text contains a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty or incomplete, as seen in 'There are many ways through people can reduce the quantity of clothes they buy such as tell them to value their money.' There are frequent errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'public spend money buy', 'people wants'), and tense consistency. These errors frequently cause strain and difficulty for the reader, preventing the response from reaching a Band 6. Overall, the grammatical control is characteristic of a Band 5 performance.
