Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for excessive clothing purchases (social media trends and celebrity influence) and how people can be persuaded to reduce this behavior (normalization of outfit repeating by influencers). The position is clear throughout, and ideas are extended, such as explaining how societal validation is tied to fashion. However, there is a tendency to over-generalize and some arguments, like the social pressure to avoid embarrassment, are slightly repetitive. Overall, all parts of the task are well covered, fitting the criteria for Band 6.5 to 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing reasons and solutions respectively, and a conclusion. There is an overall progression of ideas; however, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty (e.g., 'While, repeatition of the dresses means embarresment' and starting multiple sentences with 'Because of this trend' or 'All this happining'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and paragraphing could be managed with greater sophistication. This level of organization and cohesion aligns well with Band 6.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'validation', 'normalization', and 'status'. However, there are frequent spelling errors and lexical slips (e.g., 'attire' used repetitively, 'fasion', 'incourage', 'happining', 'thenselves', 'bases' instead of 'basis', 'repeatition', 'embarresment', 'ce;ebrities', 'do ot', 'then', 'concedered', 'comman', 'meterials', 'contibutes'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they noticeably lower the precision and fluency of the writing, placing it firmly at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and relative clauses (e.g., 'The reason why individuals are buying new clothes... is influence of social media celebrities'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'almost 90 percent of people using', 'The platforms has', 'people who has influences'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('if these celebrities can normalize the idea that repeating attire is normal'). These frequent errors can occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 5.0 descriptors.
